We should diversify our income streams (we all know that...) Though, what many end up doing is creating a portfolio of products... Floating around independently... → It's hard to cross-promote. → It's hard to upsell existing clients. → It's hard to create an "identity" around it. Instead, create a product ecosystem. I think we did our last market… Early on in the business we signed up for as many markets as possible. We wanted to get out in the world and sell, sell, sell. We quickly learned that a market is basically a browser’s paradise. And many brands leave the markets at a net loss (including us many times). But, we focused on what the exposure could help us with. A real-time focus group. Instant feedback on our product, our branding, the value proposition, and asking people if they’ve heard of us before (i.e. are our tiktoks or ads even working?) We also used it as a content pillar for ‘first timers’ trying the product and that made sense at the time. Now 3 years into the business, I just finished a weekend outdoor market where it on-and-off rained the whole time. Obviously we didn’t hit the sales goals we had in mind, and couldn’t really get much content out of the weekend either. That’s why we’re thinking that may have been our last market. What do you think? Keep going or think bigger?
