Dottir advised the lead investor NordicNinja VC in the EUR 36.5 million Series A funding round of Onego Bio. The round was participated by Tesi, EIT Food as well as previous investors Agronomics, Maki.vc, Holdix, and Turret. This is one of the largest early-stage startup funding rounds in the Nordics. Onego Bio, founded in 2022, commercializes a method developed at VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), where the main protein of egg white, ovalbumin, is produced without production animals - in other words, egg white without chickens. With the new funding, Onego intends to focus on scaling its operations and entering the market with contract manufacturers. NordicNinja is the largest Japanese VC in Europe, backing companies tackling the world’s carbon footprint with a focus on climate tech, deeptech, and digital society. 🛠️

ZeroDay | CEO: Maneese Wijesinghe Nelken ZeroDay turns food waste into renewable energy with innovative hardware and platform solutions. 

First MEXpreneurs Founder Meetup in Lisbon, Portugal! 🇵🇹 Omar Sáenz Herrera, MEXpreneurs Patron, met last week with Emiliano Gutiérrez, Mexican tech startup founder based in Lisbon. Emiliano is Co-Founder & CEO of Raiz Vertical Farms, an AgriTech startup. Raiz is creating a climate-resilient, decentralized food system based on the principles of circularity and sustainability. Through its network of vertical farms in city centres, based on a hybrid energy and a decentralized funding model, Raiz grows fresh food such as herbs and veggies wherever it is needed. Raiz has a successful vertical farm running in Lisbon that has served over 1,000 people and is deploying farms with real estate and hospitality partners across Europe through a SaaS model. Thrilled to Share Insights at ProVeg Incubator 🌟 There's a special kind of joy in sharing knowledge, especially when it comes to empowering the bright minds shaping our future food systems. I had the pleasure, for the third time, to lead a workshop for ProVeg Incubator, the winter 2023 cohort - focusing on 'Comanufacturing & Supply Chain: Unlocking Success for Startups'. For those not yet familiar, ProVeg Incubator is a force for good in the food tech world. It’s an initiative supporting startups that are reimagining the way we consume food for the betterment of our health, the planet, and the welfare of animals. They nurture these innovators with the tools, connections, and knowledge to flourish in a competitive market. At Cibus Nexum, we align perfectly with this mission. My workshop delved into the nuances of building robust supply chains and agile comanufacturing partnerships – essential ingredients for startup success. It's not just about logistics; it’s about crafting a sustainable framework for upscaling, innovation, and long-term impact. Being part of this transformative journey is an honor.
