Dear business leaders, As we approach LGBTQ+ Pride Month, it's important to remember that meaningful support is more than just posting rainbows and making press statements. We must take tangible actions to support our LGBTQ+ employees and create a safe, authentic work environment. Marching in a parade is fun, but there is hard work to he done. This means implementing policies that protect and support LGBTQ+ individuals, and actively working against politicians and policies that do not prioritize LGBTQ+ rights. Allyship is hard work, but it is necessary work. Let's make this Pride Month a time of true progress and change. Help create a workplace that is inclusive and supportive of all individuals. #LGBTQ+ #PrideMonth #Allyship #Inclusion #Diversity #Equity

Great article that highlights the current research about the (lack of) #lgbtq #representation in the #boardroom. #governance #diversityandinclusion
Authors Jeremy McClane and Darren Rosenblum publish their research on LGBTQ+ representation in the corporate boardroom in the Winter 2023 issue of the Seattle University Law Review. In observing the current movement toward board diversification, the article examines both the normative and instrumental bases for LGBTQ+ inclusion in board diversity initiatives, articulating unspoken assumptions and linking LGBTQ+ people to the broader inclusion effort. In so doing, it begins to surface the unique issues LGBTQ+ inclusion raises, understanding of which is critical to making any such policies work. It was great to lead the Route team in this discussion yesterday covering the importance of representation for all groups in advertising and the value that this thinking gives to business. Some really good debate about the importance of language and context in society, and also in activation when considering things like key word strategy through to linear TV ad placement. Really important topics that are the backbone of planning on a daily basis.
In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month, we’re reflecting on the importance of representation. 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ This week, as part of our ongoing Diversity, Equality and Inclusion training, we discussed representation in advertising, and the value of context when engaging with LGBTQ+ audiences. Here at Route, we are committed to creating a workplace in which everyone feels respected, valued, and included. LGBTQ+ History Month represents an important opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes our society great. As well as remembering the progress that has been made, it’s important to acknowledge the challenges that we still need to overcome as a society, as we strive to create an inclusive and accepting world. #LGBTQ+ #LGBTQHistoryMonth #Diversity #Inclusion #Representation #Advertising #DigitalMarketing

The recent events raises questions about what it means to belong and what members of the LGBTQ+ community must balance to be authentic to belong in our workplace as well as the communities where we live. Join us at the Creating Pathways to Diversity Conference in NY on October 9-11 to hear this panel discuss what workplaces must consider and do to create a culture where all feel safe to identify as a member of LGBTQ+ and use pronouns without backlash; and where employees feel a sense of belonging, to improve morale and retention. Thanks to the Harvard Business Review for sharing why companies must recommit to LGBTQ rights. While Sylvia Ann Hewlett and Todd Sears focus on global companies, the case they make for why could benefit any organization: 1. When LGBTQ employees feel comfortable at work, engagement and retention rates are much higher. 2. Gen Z is our future workforce and 25% identify as LGBTQ. 3. Workplace equity and inclusion policies benefit all employees. Let's fight the good fight.
