As many of you know, fast-moving wildfires have devasted the historic town of Lahaina, Maui, destroying more than 2,200 structures and leaving thousands of people seeking shelter and clean water supplies. The disaster’s impact is not over yet, as many remain without power and cell service, and first responders continue to search for hundreds who are unaccounted for. To support those affected by Hawaii’s most destructive natural disaster in decades, Watts Water Technologies is donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross, which will be used to stock an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) with needed supplies for 3 days. This service includes providing lunch, dinner, and snacks for some 400 people over the 3 days, the travel costs to deploy 2 disaster responders to operate the ERV and vehicle maintenance and fuel costs. The news coming out of Maui has made so many of us recognize the fragility of our day to day living, as well as the stark reality that while we may be miles away from the frontlines, our hearts and prayers are with the people in Maui. Great to see Hypha Mesh delivering real value to the first responder community. By extending range from the Bronco, First Responders can continue to use their cellular devices at great distances from the Kymeta SATCOM terminal, where traditionally they would have needed to be directly connected to the terminal, or within Wi Fi range, limiting their field of operational connectivity. Please be advised that a prescribed burn is planned for November 29th-December 1st , 2023 in the Bear Yuba rim Trail area, on Marysville Rd , 5 miles East of Dobbins, CA depending on when weather conditions, resources and permits line up. Because this burn is near where you live and/or work, you may observe smoke locally. Please use caution when driving, since visibility may be temporarily reduced. Also the movement of fire personal and equipment. With the help of local non-profit (Torchbearr) , landowners (Bear Yuba Land Trust ) , plan to conduct a prescribed burn on the parcels of their property  The total area of the burn is 7 acres of piles. The goal of the burn is to increase fire safety and promote forest health. The non-profit organization Torchbearr will lead this burn in collaboration with the partners, approved burn plan, burn permit, smoke permit, and cooperative weather conditions. Low intensity intentional fire applied at the right times of year in the right places can clean up accumulated fuels around homes, thus protecting communities during more intense wildfires.
