The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, and the story of our multi-product company began with a small project back in 2011.
Initially, it wasn't even an independent project but a modified third-party service for the internal needs of the team, which later evolved into a separate standalone unit.
Following the classic script: a group of like-minded friends saw an opportunity in an unusual direction, decided to take a risk, and jump into a niche that was free at the time. Working as a team of four, we believed in our product and were prepared to work tirelessly, even for a year without profit. We knew that with perseverance, we could achieve success. And we were right.
Our CTO still remembers the first payment received from a large client. And how that amount was spent on the same day. On a professional coffee machine.
Then, one day in 2016, we stumbled upon (or rather, he stumbled upon us) our first major client by chance. This client didn't purchase a ready-made product but inquired if we could provide an API which empowered our software . It was an unexpected request, but after seven sleepless nights, the client received the desired product, paving the way for a new project to create fast and reliable APIs. And so began one of our favorite projects - DataForSEO 💚
A year later, an HR manager joined the company, marking the beginning of a shift towards hiring qualified candidates through official channels, rather than relying solely on personal connections. Our casual Friday evenings transformed into fun corporate events, with activities like bowling, tennis, and celebrating small wins becoming the norm.
