Tunde Onakoya you are doing great, and you have our full support.
I’ve been playing the beautiful game of chess in the heart of Times Square for a continuous 45 hours and counting in an attempt to break a world record and raise $1m for the education of underserved children across Africa using the gift of chess. We are just a few hours from the moment we have all been waiting for.
Yes, I’m tired. But that’s just one feeling. Gratitude is another feeling, which is more overwhelming than anything my body is telling me right now. We are going to cross the finish line. My partner, US National Master Shawn Martinez and I have played 170 games so far, and our incredible team of volunteers have made sure Martinez tastes jollof rice.
I can feel the incredible love from different corners of the world, and my gratitude is beyond words. Let’s continue spreading the word until we hit the 58-hour and $1m milestone for the education of children with the gift of chess.

Chess is a game that requires different skills to become a strong player.
For every game there is room to know the Skils for you to be able to the game.
I will be explaining few skills I will love you to take a sip of water and read with me.
1. Pieces: Each piece has its own way of moving and capturing. The king is the most important piece, and you need to protect it. The queen is powerful,(Moves all round) bishops move diagonally, knights have a unique L-shaped move, rooks move horizontally and vertically, and pawns move forward but capture diagonally.
2. Openings: At the start of the game, you want to control the center of the board, develop your pieces, and keep your king safe. There are many different opening strategies and moves to choose from.
3. Tactics: Chess is full of tactical opportunities. You can use tactics like forks, pins, and skewers to capture your opponent's pieces or create threats. It's important to be alert and spot these tactical chances.
4. Positional Understanding: Understanding the position of your pieces and pawns is crucial. You want to control important squares, have good pawn structure, and coordinate your pieces effectively. This helps you create a strong position and plan your moves.
5. Endgame: The endgame is when there are fewer pieces on the board. It's important to know basic checkmating patterns, king and pawn endings, and how to use your king effectively. Endgame techniques can make a big difference in winning or drawing a game.
6. Analysis: After playing a game, it's helpful to analyze it to see what went well and what could be improved. Look for mistakes, missed opportunities, and areas where you can learn and grow as a player.
Remember, practice is key to improving your chess skills. The more you play and study, the better you'll become. I hope this explanation helps, and if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask! ♟️🤓

Does it still sound impossible?

Bet you’ve never heard of this extreme sport!
And it has so many fans that they opened a world championship.
Extreme Ironing has been a Thing since the eighties, but took off as an official sport in the last 27 years.
Let me tell you about the 2002 championship.
There were 5 rounds and all 12 (12!!!) teams from across the globe took part in each round.
🚙 Round 1: iron around, inside, or on top of a broken car. Perfectly normal, right?
🌊 Round 2: Iron while standing in the middle of a flowing river. (No, I don’t know how you plug in an iron while standing in a river.)
🌳 Round 3: Climb up a tree (with your ironing board, of course) and do some ironing.
💪 Round 4: Climb a wall and iron there.
🤔 Round 5: Iron freestyle, wherever you want.
For your information, the German team won that year.
But that’s nothing. People have been schlepping their ironing boards up mountains and ironing there too (see picture).
And if Extreme Ironing sounds like your kind of thing, why not raise money while you do it? The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales—within 24 hours.
Oh, by the way, you’ll need to carry your ironing board with you.
Not for me. How about you?

In just over four weeks I am cycling 633km across Italy, raising money for Dallaglio RugbyWorks.
DRW's missions is to ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society. On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.
DRW work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school, where coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.
I would appreciate any support possible.

Happy Friday! The students' #neurodiversity project is well under way, and the monitoring and controlling phase is in full force! Various issues have arisen, but we have developed mitigation strategies to target these concerns. Team members are learning to work seamlessly with one another, and their #emotionalintelligence has increased significantly as a result. Check out what the team has accomplished!
-The student completed the presentation that will be delivered at the Board of Education meeting.
-Morning and afternoon announcements are being made to the school population to advertise the event. Team members substitute for one another during absences in order to ensure that these tasks are carried out.
-114 people have signed up for the event thus far!
-Numerous participants have donated additional funds due to their ties to the cause.
-The students are utilizing the spreadsheet to monitor which participants have paid to sign up versus those who still owe money. The students will follow up with those who have not yet paid over course of the next week.
-The volleyball net has been delivered to the correct campus. However, due to the size of the net, the team plans on ordering an additional net to accommodate the amount of participants.
-The weather for the event date has been monitored, and there does not appear to be any rain in the forecast thus far!
Future steps that will be taken include the following:
-Continuing to monitor scope creep
-Assigning participants to teams
-Ensuring that the parameters are set for the volleyball games
-Checking in regarding progress towards goals
-Expressing our gratitude to those who have helped us achieve our goals
The fundraiser will take place in two weeks! We look forward to an extremely successful event!
