Competitiveness is back on Europe’s agenda 🎯. A competitive #EUindustry, based on a European #IndustrialDeal as outlined in the #AntwerpDeclaration, is essential for the successful delivery of the EU #GreenDeal and keeping high quality jobs in Europe 🌍🏆.   Marking the end of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2024 #EU2024BE, we would like to thank Prime Minister Alexander De Croo for his leadership and for listening to the voices of industry 📢   We look forward to working with the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union #HU24EU in the coming term🙏 .   Check out our upgraded website to find out what’s next for the Antwerp Declaration: antwerp-declaration.eu #competitiveness

I have signed the Antwerp Declaration because in the context of modern societies, the relationship between CO2 emissions and prosperity is crucial. As economies flourish, CO2 emissions tend to rise, reflecting economic activity and increased industrial growth. However, it is essential to recognize that efficient management of CO2 emissions is essential for sustaining both the environment, economic growth and consequently prosperity. CO2 can be seen as the currency of prosperity. Therefore, it must be spent wisely. Efforts to reduce and optimize CO2 emissions are necessary to ensure a balance between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. By adopting sustainable practices and innovative technologies, it is possible to use CO2 efficiently, minimizing its harmful impact on the environment while supporting continued economic growth. In this transition towards a more sustainable future, viewing CO2 as a valuable resource to be managed wisely is key. By prioritizing efficient use of CO2, we can safeguard both our prosperity and the well-being of the planet for future generations.

Great to see that the importance of competitiveness is acknowledged and that the #AntwerpDeclaration seems to have been effective in raising awareness. Thanks for the effort. What also might be beneficial to attract talent and (foreign) #investments that are needed for the #EUindustry to thrive, is an overview of what is actually going on. It can be hard to get the picture, discover opportunities, and see actual progress in current and scheduled projects. Thank you Cefic for promoting the importance of an EU #IndustrialDeal. And thank you to the Belgian Presidency for putting competitiveness back on the agenda. It’s encouraging to see the EU strategic agenda reference cutting red tape and making it easier to do business in Europe. As the new Commission forms, they must keep these priorities top of mind.
