Isn't it odd that while charities encourage people to discover the joy of volunteering in their community, the justice system uses community service as a punishment? Or that a headline-grabbing policy in what promises to be a gruelling next few weeks is to give 18-year-olds the choice between community service or a year in the army? #Volunteering is a social activity, it broadens the mind and helps the community. But to equate it with punishment and compulsion? Mixed messages! To all who would hold power: how about a serious national conversation about encouraging volunteering across all generations? About how to sustainably support charities with national and local policy to help the most vulnerable in society? Maybe even asking charities what they've learned about, you know, actually solving stuff?

New year, same kinds of arguments. Chris Ignizio & Jonathan Seeds are fighting (with each other) to tell the best possible story for a local non-profit that resources foster parents and kids who need families. "How are we going to make this video more understandable, concise, and engaging so that more kids in need can be placed in loving homes? Here is how I think we should do it..." I had a dream a little over five years ago to help my differently abled adult son and others like him to have a job that pays. For no fault of their own, they were born into this world with a variety of challenges, and for the most part the world is often reluctant to give differently-abled adults a FIRST Chance to work. We are trying to change that paradigm one treat at a time. With your help we can employ more differently abled adults and continue to shine a light on the need for inclusive work environments. See below for the link to donate #Firstchancetowork #employmentfordisabledadults #differentlyablednotdisabled
Our core values represent our promises to our employees, our volunteers, and to you, our supporters. We strive to create a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment in which each of our differently-abled team members can thrive. As we near our 5-year anniversary, these are the guiding principles we are committed to: 💙 Dignity & Belonging 💙 Entrepreneurship 💙 Collaboration 💙 People Over Profit 💙 Diversity & Equity 💙 Learning & Curiosity Our hope is that, with your support, we will continue to grow in these next 5 years to help more disabled adults experience what it is like to be part of an inclusive workplace environment. Thank you for making that dream possible! You can donate to support our mission at https://lnkd.in/eyNrMGzs #nonprofitorganization #inclusionmatters #accessibilitymatters

Top Tip #2: Become a volunteer Many think that providing help to the homeless mainly consists of monetary donations, however, there are many other ways to help… If you want to make a difference to those who are homeless and vulnerable in your community, you can make a donation of your time and effort by volunteering. It’s very common that places such as soup kitchens, local shelters and food banks are understaffed and over-occupied, so why not offer just an hour of your time to a local organisation and offer a helping hand? Becoming a volunteer is a hands-on way to make a positive impact on the homeless and it can provide additional benefits for you such as developing people-skills, leadership skills and with the added plus of meeting like-minded individuals who are working to support the same cause 🩷 Find out more about Pass It On, what we do and opportunities to volunteer, when they become available on our website: https://lnkd.in/dejAFVu #Volunteers #Volunteering #Charity #PassItOn
