As much as I love to celebrate St. Patricks Day and we've all heard the Luck of the Irish☘️, I believe we need more than luck to succeed. In most goals, fitness, financial, sales we start with an ideal outcome. From there we create daily activities that bridge the gap 🌉over time between current and future state. The daily commitments are what moves the needle. Can we experience a bit of luck? Sure. Difficult stakeholders retire, change organization, deal criteria changes, competition doesn't meet minimum requirements. Many of these happened to me in my career. ✅ Although, they may help, we can't bet on these. We can however bet on ourselves.💪 So as much as I would like some leprechauns helping out with my deal, I think I will stick with the process and automate the daily activities to guarantee my success. Today and tomorrow are a good example of it - especially as it comes to market entry... Today, we're off to Pittsburgh, where tonight we'll be attending the SOUTH WEST REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Annual Meeting - thanks to Mandi Pryor for the invite! Tomorrow morning, I get to meet with Gina Grone from the Northside North Shore Chamber of Commerce, to talk about the chamber (and how to make the most out of our membership!) Then, we're facilitating our 5th(!!!) Member Value Workshop with the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber, which is SOLD OUT!!! In fact, Chris Heck called me the other day to let me know they'd expanded the openings and are realigning their conference room to fit a few more. The original purpose for the trip? Grab Joel Turner at University of Pittsburgh and bring him home for spring break. The reason I mention all this is because it's exactly what we do for our clients, as well. If you don't (yet) have a regional rep in an area, you can't be at everything. And, as you know, #networking is a long game... You need to be seen, you need to build relationships, and you need to be consistently providing value. That's hard to do from out-of-town. Which is why when our clients have anything going on in a market they're working - we build an entire agenda around it for them. Might be chamber events. Might be one-on-one meetings with the chamber team, or with contacts from the last trip. Might even be setting up an event of our own. We work it.
