From old to new - as we move into manufacturing a small, identical fleet of micro-vessels, here's some reflections on the designs:
OLDEST
The micro-vessel on the far left was initially designed in 2021, and by mid 2022 became our first design to navigate a force 6 on the open sea 💪. The hull was 3D printed in sections, and hand-wrapped in fibreglass.
Pros: Incredibly strong hull, 3d printed internals allowed for a rapid pace of iteration.
NEWEST
The micro-vessel on the far right hit the water two weeks ago, and has since been put through 4 separate commissioning tests on the water📋, where we compared data on the hull + sail dynamics to older designs.
Pros: By far the best roll and yaw stability characteristics and expanded battery capacity (e.g for high latitudes where solar power is minimal).
Keep a look out next week for some of the data we're collecting! 🌊
