F5’s Post

F5 reposted this

This month, I had the opportunity to participate in a unique experience with The GenderCool Project led by F5’s #Pride Employee Inclusion Group (EIG). Several members of the F5 executive team sat down with a teenage member of the #LGBTQ+ community to learn more about her journey, experience, and perspectives. This reverse #mentorship experience was inspiring, insightful and honest and is part of our learning journey to become better allies in the workplace. One of my favorite takeaways from the session was when Rebekah said “You can’t hate up close.” This simple statement really struck me because it’s so true that the more you engage with another person and the better you understand their story, the more difficult it is to hate them. As leaders, we are responsible for creating healthy, safe, and comfortable workplaces for our employees to thrive. At F5, we uphold our #DEI promises through action. During our conversation, we discussed what actionable steps we can take to move the needle now and how we can take steps to create the inclusive environment the next generation of our workforce will expect. #DEI is no longer a perk of great culture; it’s a demand from future employees and leaders. Thank you, Hugh and the rest of F5 Pride for putting this together and thank you Rebekah for being so open in sharing your story with us. What a fantastic way to end Pride Month! 🌈 Learn more about Gender Cool here: https://lnkd.in/gU_Pf2eq #AForceFor #Culture #Leadership #PrideMonth
