What is Belonging — And Why Does it Matter in Today’s Divided, Lonely World? It’s not a buzzword, a checkbox or a synonym for diversity and inclusion. Psychologists and experts explain what belonging is, how it matters to you and why it’s more important than ever. Brandon Brito (College of the Holy Cross '20 and Excel Academy Charter Schools Associate Director of College and Career Counseling) talks about how he helps Excel Academy High School students navigate feelings of Imposter Syndrome as they create their post-secondary pathways. "To help his students, he spends time with them one-on-one: 'recalibrating or grounding students in what they’re capable of, unpacking a lot of their fears and insecurities and imposter syndrome, which are really real feelings.'" 📰 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e8XRfi9s

Help us spread the word by June 4th It's wonderful to hear from Cynthia Louis-Dale at Achievement First. We hope to bring great new options to Providence families, but we need support from the Providence City Council to be allowed to breathe new life into the vacant Carl G. Lauro school building at 99 Kenyon St. We would invest at least $14 million together to upgrade this public space for the community. Help spread the word before June 4th when the Council will begin to decide this issue. You can also read the letter from Excel parent and staff member, Reyna R., at https://lnkd.in/gtEXkRcf.
Cynthia Louis-Dale, Providence resident and principal of Achievement First Envision Elementary School, believes in providing high-quality educational choices for all Providence students. She is hopeful that the Providence City Council will allow us and our Excel Academy Charter Schools colleagues to create a new home of learning at the former Carl G. Lauro school. Learn more about her story and dedication to children by watching this video.
