In the past weeks, we have already presented you some facts about the upcoming #cybersecurity directive NIS 2. The #NIS 2 is a central element for more #cybersecurity in the EU. But what is the current status of NIS 2? 💭 On January 16, 2023, the NIS 2 directive came into force. The cyber #security directive must be transposed into national law by October 17, 2024. The Commission will then review the implementation of the Directive for the first time by October 17, 2027! In the future, this will be reviewed every 36 months. ✅ Due to the very short timeframe for implementing the requirements, it is already necessary for the affected companies to become active now. Over the next couple of years, we are set to experience some significant regulatory changes in the field of IT and cyber security. NIS2 is the top of a three-pointed triangle alongside the Critical Entities Resilience (CER) Directive and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). NIS2 is a key part of the EU's cybersecurity strategy. It is an updated legislative framework introduced by the European Union to boost the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU. The framework is an update to the original NIS Directive, adopted in 2016. Preparing for NIS2: Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions NIS2, the reformed edition of the 2016 Network and Information Security (NIS) directive, was entered into force at the start of 2023, following multi-year European Parliament negotiations.
