In October of 2021, I met with Dan Nissanoff and joined Game of Silks, Inc.. It was an opportunity to learn from two experienced entrepreneurs, Dan Nissanoff and Troy Levy, and build a startup from the ground up. The Concept: We set out to create Digital Collectibles (NFTs) of real-world racehorses and mirror the economics of ownership on our platform. When a real racehorse races or breeds and earns money, the digital owner on the ‘Silks’ platform receives a corresponding percentage. This essentially creates a secondary economy that mirrors the real world. The blockchain provided the ownership layer, enabling buying and selling on a secondary market. The Silks IP - brand and experience - enhances the ownership through visual storytelling. As we see it, this is the future of fantasy sports - One global league that blurs the line between spectator and owner. My Role: As a Co-founder and Head of Product, I wore multiple hats. My primary responsibilities included establishing our creative studio and leading the product vision and roadmap. The past two years have been an incredible journey, providing an iterative learning experience that fed my hunger for building teams, developing technology, and moving fast. I am excited to share that I am now beginning the early phases of embarking on my next venture. I have transitioned into an advisory role at Silks, and am confident and excited about the leadership and team that will take Silks to the next level. Milestones:   Over the course of two years, we grew the company to over 50 employees, generated more than $5M in revenue, and saw over $4M in secondary market trading activity. We partnered with NYRA for live broadcast integration on Fox Sports and secured an agreement with the Jockey Club as our direct source for real-time horse racing data. As of July 2023, our platform is live, paying out rewards for real-world races. We've minimized the Web 3 friction associated with crypto wallets and introduced a streamlined onramp. Users can sign up, buy a racehorse, watch it win, and get paid. Additionally, The company recently finished raising an additional round of funding and is positioned for its next phase of growth.

How many hardware startups can say that they launched their product after just 6 months? Not all that many, actually very few have successfully managed to do so. And to top it off they did it on our Batch 2 #demoday of the Hardtech Innovation Accelerator Program. Proud is an understatement! When Matze Mähner 🌱, Adrian Doms and Tommy Gruber joined our accelerator last November, I remember Thibault Hermitte and I saying this team will go far. Not only did they excel in terms of product development, customer traction and market growth, they also ensured that their whole production line remains local and emits the least CO2 possible. Of course an added bonus was that at every little accelerator dinner function fresh micro greens where there to pimp the food served in terms of nutrients and taste.
