As we mark the conclusion of Black History Month, I'm inspired to reflect on a recent discussion that Stephanie Boone-Shaw and I had with WashingtonExec, on the significance of this month and what we are doing at LMI and Booz Allen Hamilton to celebrate this month. Black History Month is not just a time to celebrate past achievements; it's a vital period for all of us, especially in the corporate world, to reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's an opportunity to learn from diverse backgrounds, fostering a culture of belonging that mirrors the society we live in. In today's dynamic workplace, embracing and understanding the rich tapestry of human experiences is more than a moral imperative; it's a competitive advantage. As we strive to create more equitable work environments, let's carry the spirit of Black History Month throughout the year. How are you and your organization continuing the conversation and action on inclusion beyond throughout the year? Let's learn and build together. #BlackHistoryMonth #DiversityAndInclusion #CorporateResponsibility #WorkplaceCulture #PeoplePowerPossible #LifeatLMI
#BoozAllen's Stephanie Boone-Shaw joined WashingtonExec in a discussion about how we are observing #BlackHistoryMonth. The panel discusses initiatives for February and beyond, as well as how these efforts fit into the companies’ larger #DEI mission and goals. https://lnkd.in/eN5Bvij9

Heading into 2024, I’ll be putting most of my attention toward building an environmental/climate affinity organization for Black women, transgender, and non-binary people to dream, ideate, and build toward a liberatory future. (If you are a funder or have connections to funding, get in touch!) In addition to that, I’m excited to collaborate in the following ways: ❖ Building residencies, fellowships, and other opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and People of color to have dreaming, visioning, and ideation space. ❖ Designing and curating physical spaces that focus on rest, nourishment, and care for Black folks. ❖1:1 advising on embodying and implementing liberatory and just values on an individual and organizational level. ❖ Writing projects (blogs, writers-in-residences, co-authoring, etc.)

🖤💚❤️ Celebrating Juneteenth ❤️💚🖤 . Today, we honor Juneteenth, a powerful day in American history. On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day symbolizes hope, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice. . As we reflect on Juneteenth, it’s important to recognize the strides we've made and the journey still ahead in achieving true equality. In the realm of real estate and investment, this means advocating for fair housing practices, promoting diverse ownership, and creating opportunities for all. . 🏡 How can we make a difference? . Support Minority-Owned Businesses: Invest in and partner with diverse entrepreneurs and real estate agents. Promote Fair Housing: Advocate for policies that ensure equal access to housing and combat discrimination. Educate and Empower: Provide resources and knowledge to underrepresented communities to help them thrive in real estate investment. Reflect on the opportunities we can create for future generations. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable landscape in real estate. 🌟 . Let’s use today not only to remember the past but to inspire action and create a brighter future. . Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽 . #Juneteenth #RealEstateForAll #EqualityInRealEstate #InvestInChange #EmpowerCommunities #SimplifiedREI
