Ciao, Ciao - Dynatrace I received a card titled "Ciao, Ciao" on my last day before starting maternity leave. What a mindful message, as it means both "Goodby" and "Hello". As I prepared for this new chapter, I want to share my experiences and offer some advice to inspire others aiming to provide a more inclusive work environment for everyone. First and foremost, I want to wholeheartedly thank my amazing team, especially Nadine Moschetta, Kamil Kazimierczak, and Betsie Sutherland and my lead Sue Quackenbush for your unwavering support. You made my experience truly exceptional. 🙏 My Advice for Supporting a Pregnant Leader: ▶ Empathetic and Understanding Communication: Pregnancy can turn a female leader's world upside-down - at least that's what happened to me. Experiencing the empathy and support of my leadership team and developing my handover and interim plan together with them was a relieving gift. ▶ Openness, Trust, and Flexibility: Having a plan is great—getting it approved is another challenge. Many pregnant leaders lack support or, even worse, are sidelined. Sue Quackenbush acted like a true role model. She listened to my plan, offered invaluable advice, and provided options for flexible hours or remote work. Sue's support made me feel fully included and she even took the time to share feedback and discuss on my future career progression. ▶ Delegation and Trust: Especially in Europe, where maternity leave can last quite long, it's essential to prepare your team for success. Empower your team by delegating responsibilities and trusting them to maintain productivity as quickly after finding out about your pregnancy as possible. Don’t fear “not being needed.” Having Nadine shadow me right away was the best decision. The more you share, delegate, and trust, the bigger your team’s chances for success. ▶ Letting Go, but Staying Connected: Trust that your team is capable and ready to handle the responsibilities, but - if you wish to - make a plan to stay connected with eg. periodic check-ins. This keeps you informed without undermining your team’s autonomy. Even as the one responsible for Dynatrace's Employee Experience, I've experienced firsthand the incredible supportive culture and unique individuals bringing it to life. Our approaches and genuine care set a gold standard, which I’m incredibly proud of. I can’t wait to focus on this new chapter now, but I'm equally excited to see how my team and I will navigate this transition further — stay tuned. I'd love to hear your pieces of advice and experiences in the comments. #MaternityLeave #Leadership #EmployeeExperience #SupportiveWorkplace #DynatraceLife

Thank you for sharing your insights! Parenthood is indeed a remarkable journey, filled with both excitement and uncertainty. Staying connected during maternity leave for me was crucial, and I was so lucky that my company, leader, and team supported me, stayed connected and allowed smooth transition back to work. 🌟 As a mom of a 4-year old I can only say: The wild ride of parenting shapes us in unexpected ways, making us better leaders and individuals. It's wonderful to see your commitment to advocating for parents at work! 🙌 Feel free to reach out if there's anything I can do to support your journey or if you'd like to connect. ❤️🌸
