A recent survey commissioned by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation has uncovered some concerning figures when it comes to the improvement of equality, diversity and inclusion in UK hiring processes. Their research found that nearly half of responding organisations do not state their interest in hiring diverse candidates when posting job adverts, a really simple and easy way to make your ED&I intentions known. REC also found that 67% of respondents don’t use name-blind CVs during their selection processes, a step backwards from the previous year’s result of 53%. This is another easy way to remove any unconscious bias around factors that aren't relevant to the candidate's skills in relation to their role. Things have come a long way for ED&I in recruitment, but these figures serve as a reminder that there's still plenty more work to be done. If you want to learn more about the survey and why ED&I approaches are crucial for organisations, click the link in the comments below. #EDI #ukrecruitment #diversity

It's a real shame to see that many employers are still failing to take basic steps to improve equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in their hiring processes 🤦♂️ A survey conducted by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) in June 2023 found that only 60% of employers had reviewed the wording of their job adverts to improve inclusion and nearly half (49%) still don't state their interest in hiring diverse candidates in their job adverts. Not only that, but two-thirds (67%) of employers don't use name-blind CVs during selection and more than half (56%) don't have a policy of using diverse interview panels To make sure you have the best chance of attracting the widest possible talent pool, we urge employers to turn to professional recruitment businesses who can advise them on how to devise and implement a strategy that works. Inclusive organisations can be more creative, innovative and profitable 💰 #EDI #Diversity #Inclusion

I'm absolutely overjoyed to be selected as a finalist for Recruitment Consultant of the Year in the annual SEEK SARA awards. SEEK The past 12 months have been an incredible journey of personal and professional growth for me. Recruitment is so much more than a job; it's about forging deep connections with people, and that's what makes it truly special. Employment has the power to transform lives, and I am immensely proud to be a recruiter. What makes me even prouder is being a part of Talentpath Recruitment ,a company that fearlessly explores new and innovative ways of recruiting. This project was a game-changer, breaking down barriers for participants, candidates, and employers alike. We defied conventions and urged our clients to bring their NDIS participants to our recruitment events, ensuring active involvement in building the workforce. Because, at its core, it's always about the participant. Recruitment is undoubtedly a challenging and demanding career, but it's also incredibly fulfilling, especially with a project as impactful as this one. My nomination and selection as a finalist feel like the cherry on top of what has already been an extraordinary year. The Disability support and Aged Care industries are thriving in Australia, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be a recruiter in this space. I am actively contributing to helping minority groups secure meaningful employment and assisting providers in shaping their workforce planning and growth. It's not just a job; it's a mission I hold close to my heart. Are you championing equality, diversity and inclusion throughout your hiring process? A workforce built up of unique individuals from diverse backgrounds brings fresh perspectives and adds real value to your business. But a summer 2023 survey by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation revealed ‘nearly half of employers do not state interest in hearing from a range of diverse applicants in their job adverts.’ Firms might be claiming they champion EDI in the workplace, but it’s clear there’s a long way to go to put this into action. If you’re struggling to get your inclusive values across in your job adverts, or you want to make sure you’re attracting a broad range of diversities to apply for your vacancies, we’re here to help with job advert design to connect with ALL candidates. https://lnkd.in/ex74xSFB #REC #Recruitment #WeAreMarmion

If today you count yourself in the half of employers that expressly mention diversity in their job ads, congrats! 📉 According to recent research from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC); "Nearly half of hirers (49%) said they do not state their interest in hiring diverse candidates in their job adverts." Add to this further findings that: ❗ 67% of the businesses surveyed do not aim to reduce bias in hiring by anonymising candidates' applications and 📝 over a third don't make any attempt to review the language in job ads for inclusivity or bias... and it paints a fairly dismal picture of current hiring practices in the UK 🤯 Our take on this in talking to hundreds of businesses month on month? There isn't a lack of intention around wanting to improve inclusive practices, it's the lack of understanding on how this can work alongside day to day tasks and approaches that causes the reticence to change... Through simple adjustments such as including a well-worded equality statement within (not at the foot!) of a job ad and removing identifying factors such as names, gendered pronouns and dates from a CV diversity of candidates can increase by as much as 70%. And guess what? Affordable tools (and free advice!) are now readily available to help with all of these elements - making the attraction of diverse talent quick, easy and fuss-free. If you want to learn more about the why, the what and crucially the HOW - you know where we are! Hayley Bakker Helen McGuire Deborah Caia Jennie Child
