Meet Cute: European Recruitment meets Ian Holloway ⚽ Yesterday, we got together in our Brighton office to watch the #Euro2024 England VS Denmark match. The game might not have been too convincing, but we still hope that it's coming home! However, the true highlight of the evening was when we spotted Ian Holloway walk past us while we were celebrating in a pub in Central Brighton, and what a lovely meeting it was! As soon as Ian noticed that we recognised him, he smiled, came over, and suggested we take a photo together. Such a legend! This lifted our spirits and truly made our night! #ItsComingHome #EnglandvsDenmark #IanHolloway #UEFA #UEFAEurope #England2024

🏆 Just like England at the Euros, the recruitment game is all about persistence and teamwork! 🌟 From the Euros, I've learned that persistence and teamwork are crucial, both on the pitch and in recruitment. Here’s how England's journey mirrors our own: 🏆 Persistence: Despite never winning, England steps out each tournament with unwavering belief. In recruitment, persistence, resilience and self-belief means the most - hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard! 🌟 Teamwork: Phil Foden was Premier League Player of the Year, but had an off day against Serbia. Your value isn’t just individual; it's amplified by the strength of your team. 🔍 Preparation: England spends years preparing for each tournament. Likewise, invest time in understanding your candidates and clients deeply for winning results. 🎉 Celebration: Every goal, every save, every successful hire is a step towards the ultimate win. Keep spirits high, eyes and celebrate each little win like Shaw's early goal in the last final! Let’s take a leaf out of England’s playbook and bring our A-game to recruitment! 💪⚽ #Recruitment #Persistence #Teamwork #Euro2024 #PhilFoden #itscominghome #education

And this is why, you should cross your fingers for the German team tonight. ⚽ 🇪🇺 My colleagues Franziska Eckhardt & Julius Probst, PhD have looked into the economics and psychology of hosting such a huge tournament like UEFA EURO 2024 - and they found some exciting insights. https://lnkd.in/ejpwZepN 📈 Germany's consumer climate is finally improving again. As Europe's biggest economy, that's good news for everyone on the continent 🍽 The event attracts more than 600k visitors, boosting hospitality sector with around 1.5M additional overnight stays, more people having dinner and obviously drinks 🍻 🙏 But the most important aspect could be a psychological one: "whereas in 2006, fan gatherings primarily consisted of German supporters, this year, people of all nationalities are celebrating together. French, Slovaks, Scots, Spanish and Germans are watching the games side by side. [...]" "The positive messages and the opportunity to break down stereotypes foster a sense of community, creating an atmosphere of optimism and joy that lingers long after the tournament ends." Obviously, we'll only make full use of such a psychodological boost if we have our people strategies in place and use the current window of opportunity wo prepare for the great people shortage thats already visible on the horizon (+25% open positions vs. 2019 but at least a little less than 2022). And that's all easier to achieve with the home team being in the tournament a little longer, don't you think? 😉 🇪🇸 🇩🇪🤝 Would you agree? 😅 Xavier Martin Canals Javier Cañizares Pedro Serrano ✓ Pol Comas Pinyol

Goodness gracious me! There's the easy way, the hard way, and then there's the England way. 🏴 Slovakia, ranked 45th in the world, came within a whisker of an almighty shock, only to be denied by a Jude Bellingham bicycle kick five minutes into stoppage time to send the match into extra-time. That was swiftly followed by a Harry Kane header 52 seconds into the restart. We held on for the 2–1 win, but why do we make it so hard for ourselves? We were poor today. We were poor against Slovenia. We were poor against Denmark. We were poor against Serbia. Oh, and we were poor in the 1–0 loss against Iceland in the final warm-up match — a country with under 400,000 people. Nevertheless, it's Switzerland next. We're really going to have to start finding some form if we're going to progress further. It ain't been good enough thus far. #ENG #ENGSVK #Euro2024

With the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ rounding up in a couple of days, the question of why countries host this sporting event arises once again. There are two arguments; on one side, the arguments are often that the event will be too expensive and that the potential for re-use of the facilities is insufficient to justify the construction of the costly venues. Those on the other side argue that the event would stimulate economic activity, increase export revenues (e.g., from tourism), create positive publicity for the country, and lead to economic growth and increased domestic and foreign investment levels. In this article, I answered the question. https://lnkd.in/djyJb3R2

🇪🇺 🇩🇪 EURO24 destroying German stereotypes - in all directions ... Who would have thought that we'd host an international tournament and our guests' perception would be "The Germans are very friendly and supportive hosts, what they offer culturally and culinary is nice, both the weather and their team are not too bad ... but their infrastructure sucks and this is all far from being efficient." I experience the atmosphere here and I just got glimpse of how much work many people here have put into this for many years ... host cities, caterers, volunteers, any many more ... So I do NOT agree with the overall negative judgement the The New York Times journalist has in his article (1st comment). Some German media obviously have taken this as insult. But I'm afraid he has a few valid points ... As a German and a football enthusiast, I'm incredibly proud that we are hosting this tournament and have visitors from all over Europe and beyond. Especially considering what's happening in the world and since we all have been very good at finger pointing where tournaments should not happen when for some time being reluctant to apply for large tournaments ourselves (i.e. "Olympics in Hamburg"). Of course, if I HAD to decide I would always prefer being a good host on a personal and human level. 99% of the picture or videos I see are amazing, Dutch fans jumping around in Hamburg, Albanian and Italian fans breaking spaghetti together, the Tartan army, seeing happy people from nations who would usually not participare in those tournaments etc. But I also have to say that I find it embarrassing to read about some of the experiences international fans have when i.e. traveling between destinations or getting away from Stadiums to their hotels. Fun fact: For local fans, Deutsche Bahn bashing already has become a boring activity. #shrug We all talk a lot about fan or customer experience. So it should be a no-brainer that this contains a bit more than the game itself. Don't get me wrong, being able to watch the German opening game live in the stadium has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. But I also remember that it took my colleague and me approx. an hour to even get away from one of our most modern stadiums in a bus. That bus drove us to some dark corner of the Olympiapark where everyone was for himself or herself afterwards. Walking another 1-2 hours before getting a taxi that took us to our rather central destinations. Don't want to know how stressful this was for any foreign fans. Long story short: I hope that after this tournament we'll find a good balance of taking the tailwind of a great, peaceful and positive tournament with us (the DFB team's performance at best will play its part) and us taking any critical feedback seriously. And more important do something about it together. There will hopefully come another Euro, World Cup or other event we're able to host and prove that we can both be very nice people and offer a setup that just works.
