Enjoyed visiting the Retail Technology Show this week. Some great talks that raised some themes that link nicely to the work we are doing in the sector: - Forward-thinking retailers are building AI-powered sandboxes: don't be afraid to trial new ideas, be dynamic and be prepared to adjust your strategy accordingly - Crucial to link tech and data initiatives to business improvement and join up functional teams to create buy-in to change - Value Creation is not just about financial improvement there is huge benefit in understanding your customers and using this knowledge to strengthen the relationship with them - Increasing customer frequency is the route to exponential benefit - Sustainability linked to everything retailers do and it is crucial to look for the win-wins around supply chain efficiency, waste reduction and importantly understanding the link between customers' desire to be sustainable vs their appetite to pay extra to do it!

Yesterday’s Retail Technology Show was a brilliant day and a fascinating opportunity to learn from so many great retail leaders and experts. Some of my key take outs were: 🧠 Listening to Dex Hunter-Torricke discuss the role of AI to help drive business innovation. Predominately how the human touch will still be vital to customers, and that companies should double down on their principles to ensure AI tooling drives the right changes for them. Not just tooling for tooling’s sake. 💭 A brilliant conversation between Miya Knights and Paul Wilkinson on the best way to enable innovation and the innovative ways Deliveroo are bringing the ‘highstreet to you’. Including building their own Chat GPT - ‘RooGPT’ to help employees complete the mundane tasks in order to free up more time. And that innovation breeds from space to think and create, and above all … good data! 📱The growth of social commerce over the next few years is going to be enormous. From 11% digital penetration now to 33% by 2026. Maddie Forman talked through the power of TikTok and TikTok Shop as the new store front for customers, and the vital importance of meaningful and authentic content to drive customer connections. It was so interesting to learn about future developments coming in retail, how brands and retailers can prepare for these and above all what it means for customers.
