If you just want to browse and take in the Thor's atmosphere, that's a-ok 👌🏽 We designed this space with a few things in mind: 👉🏼 It needed to be a comfortable, inspiring and healthy place for our team to work. 👉🏼 It needed quiet spaces for our sales and design team to be able to chat to customers. 👉🏼 And lastly, it needed to showcase our skilled craftmanship using real-world examples, pieces that we use every single day, and that visitors could visualise in their own spaces. Everything you see as you walk through the showroom doors was made by us; the towering central spine of library shelving, the reception desk, the sit / stand workstations, the dining table, the cabinets, the split batten (french cleat) rack system that displays our timber samples... everything. You can also head upstairs to the gallery to view a range our furniture examples, or step through into the workshop to check out our dressed timber racks. If you're lucky, our gallery will have an art exhibition installed for you to browse (for free) while you're up there. If you're interested in the stock we have available out the back in the yard and the storage sheds, one of our sales and design team members can take you through to have a squiz—no obligation or pressure. The German-based property company KGAL is repositioning its property Charles Square Center. In fact, that's a name you'll stop hearing. Along with new tenants, a new facade, interior lighting and design features, the building will now be called Karlák Shopping Square. Even the logos for the property and its tenants have been transformed. The goal, says Anna Pospíchalová (CBRE Czech Republic) is render its visual appearance both more cultivated and unified -- and to support the visibility of its entrances (esp. the retail). I didn't realize *how* much more retail space the US has compared to other countries—40% more square footage per capita than Canada and more than twice as much as Australia! Many of these spaces are currently vacant and in need of a rethink. Fairway invests £1.5m in flagship revamp Family-owned furniture and flooring retailer Fairway Furniture is to invest £1.5m revamping its flagship store. The four-store chain will remove all of the existing interior of its Plymouth branch and replace it with a new layout, allowing for a wider range product range within a fresh, contemporary shop-fit design. Work will begin next month and is scheduled to last for six months. Ahead of the work a three-week refurbishment sale will be held. The phased scope of the refurbishment will see the store trade from about 75% of its usual floorspace throughout the project’s four phases. The sixth-generation family business had begun planning the revamp before the Pandemic, but action was postponed until 2023. ‘Now is a great time to invest in our store estate after the turbulence of recent years and we are delighted to be making such a big investment into the city where the company first started.  As the biggest furniture store in the region, we believe that this exciting new store design will make it a genuine destination for the area’s furniture buyers, encompassing both existing and new demographic groups,’ says Peter Harding, Fairway Furniture md. ‘The design work for this project began before the Pandemic when we engaged Somerset-based  retail designer Spaceworks Interiors to develop an initial concept for a new store layout. Multi-year sublease with a showroom tenant in the Plaza District The challenge: The tenant, who had recently been subleasing at affordable rates, aimed to maintain low rent and capitalize on the current sublease market in NYC. However, a challenge arose as they desired a location in the Plaza District, where the majority of available subleases were from financial firms rather than showroom tenants. Action: We explored the sublease market for a space with two distinctive features. Firstly, we sought spaces with pre-existing large rooms, high ceilings, and ample natural light suitable for showrooms. Secondly, we ensured that the subtenant would permit minor modifications to reconfigure the space according to their specific needs if necessary.
