#TheUrbanComic | Here’s a glimpse of what it looks like when a citizen climbs the active citizenship ladder. As citizens of a democratic country, we are uniquely positioned to partake in processes that can influence the quality of life in our cities. Being active citizens requires us to transition from indifference to intent, where our actions wield the power to make a difference in our cities. “Driving Change: Our Collective Power to Shape Democracy” was an engaging discussion at UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS) Annual Conference on fostering a strong #civilsociety, where #communities and individuals have a greater say, influence, and agency. Attendees gained insights into translating their collective community spirit into concrete #institutionalchanges and discovered practical ways to nurture #civicparticipation in their own neighborhood. BA in Humanities (Development Studies and Public Management & Governance) || BA Hons Public Management and Governance Candidate || Academic Peer Mentor.
For the first time in democratic South Africa's history, no single party holds an outright majority. This necessitates a more collaborative and coalition-based approach to governance, which could lead to more dynamic governance across sectors. Honestly, coalition talks and agreements will be messy and tricky, and the wrong choice of partnerships is concerning. #SAElections2024 #SAHasDecided #Governance #Democracy #SAFuture
