🌊 Tomorrow is #WorldOceanDay and we want to take this opportunity to celebrate our incredible partners Prevented Ocean Plastic, led by Raffi Schieir! The Prevented Ocean Plastic programme is a groundbreaking global recycling initiative, that we’re incredibly proud to support. It empowers tens of thousands of people by providing them with sustainable livelihoods, and plays a crucial role in cleaning coastlines and preventing ocean plastic pollution. The plastic they collect is transformed into high-quality, certified recycled packaging for our supermarket shelves, turning potential waste into valuable resources. Amazing, right? Since 2005, they’ve kept more than 2.5 billion plastic bottles out of our oceans and invested $250 million back into developing communities. Their work, thanks to its scale, is making a real difference, protecting marine life and ecosystems from plastic pollution. Opting for recycled plastic over virgin plastic also helps mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to our collective fight against climate change. This #EarthDay, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental stewardship in support of the global movement to combat plastic pollution.    As part of caring for you, we care everyday for the planet and we have made some significant advancements in our journey towards plastic reduction with the use of rPET which requires 79% less energy and 90% less water than virgin plastic.   As of 2023, we have: •🔄 Increased use of recycled plastic (rPET) in Spain, the United States, and key markets like the Netherlands. •🌱 Developed flexible materials in collaboration with our partners to enhance recyclability. •🔍 Implemented "Design to Reduce" projects, which aims to optimize materials such as lightweight PET bottles, and which has successfully slashed 187 tons of our material consumption compared to 2022. We know our journey has just started and we are already focused on new aims to reduce waste generation and promote a circular economy, with targets for a quarter of PET consumed in our packaging process to be recycled by 2025.   This Earth Day, let’s remember that the movement needs to be everyday. We believe in being plastic-smart, taking into account the entirety of the product’s lifespan. Prevented Ocean Plastic™, supplied by Bantam Materials UK, is high-quality, food-grade, and award-winning recycled plastic material that has been collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. Dedicated volunteers on Tioman Island tackled plastic waste, partnering HHI and Kian Furniture to create the remarkable Louvre Chair from Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP). With Plashaus OBP QR code traceability, they transformed 23,450kg of OBP into these amazing chairs. While ASEAN nations contribute to ocean plastic pollution, reducing plastic use and raising recycling awareness is crucial for a cleaner, greener future.
