In our #Retail Trends Study, we ask consumers how they've responded to inflationary conditions while #shopping. The answers have stark variations across generational lines. Here are some of the standouts: Younger consumers (#Millennials, #GenZ) are more likely to be using "buy-now, pay-later" options to spread out the cost of purchases. Older consumers (#GenX, #Boomers) tell us they are buying fewer clothes. So many more insights are available in the Retail Trends Study - contact us if you'd like access! https://lnkd.in/e_h32tX2

In 2023, beauty was the fastest-growing segment in US retail, and the "lipstick effect" is still going strong. My latest report for Insider Intelligence | eMarketer shares findings on beauty shopping behavior from our exclusive consumer survey in a new visually-oriented, slide-first format. A few highlights: -Few beauty consumers plan to cut back spending in this category in the year ahead. Most respondents said they would maintain or increase their beauty spending both online and in-store. -Online channels will gain a greater share of shoppers' wallets, and a significant share of millennials (36%) said they planned to at least double (!!) their online beauty spending in the year ahead. -Amazon is poised to benefit greatly from these trends. It's already far ahead of the competition as the online retailer of choice for beauty products, though newcomers like Temu, SHEIN, and TikTok Shop are gaining ground, especially among Gen Z. Subscribers can check out the full 25-slide deck via the link in the comments, and stay tuned for part 2 covering the beauty consumer's path to purchase at the end of this week. #beauty #cosmetics #ecommerce #consumerbehavior
