It's so nice to come back from holiday (a utopia where emails can't get you, feeling warm-to-your-bones in the sun, it's perfectly acceptable to drink a gin fizz at 11am on a Tuesday morn if you fancy etc etc ☀ 🏖 ) and not have the Sunday / Work Scaries when you get back 😍 It's a sign of flexible and supportive clients (or team, if you're PAYE) to know that you're going to return and not feel punished for taking time off / your handover has actually been read / nothing is on fire 🔥 Surena Chande said similar recently ↑ and it really made me think! I used to spend the tail-end of holidays working out how I could delay my return / fake my own death to put off the working environments I was returning to. But today, after putting on load 1 of the 450,242 washes I need to do 🙄 I'm easing back in after a week of actual downtime and reset 😎 Seriously though, if your job / clients affect your mental health and you consider faking your own death rather than returning to work like I used to... Have a look for new ones, please - nothing is worth your mental health 🚮 #Freelance #Holiday #RemoteWork #Freelancing #MentalHealth

Hope you had a fantastic holiday! SUCH a good vibe when the ick is no more. Only just getting to end of our holiday washing… and we came back mid May. There really are 450,242 washes. No exaggeration.

People need a holiday to recover from every holiday. I learnt that a long time ago, and that is why I stopped having them. Almost everywhere I have been on this planet, there was a business supported and contract imperative for being there - at least initially.

You do need a holiday but I definitely feel being freelance, I have to justify taking time off more than I used to as an employee. I now have a business partner and team that rely on me.
