🎉 Thank you to everyone who came out to AI Tinkerers' Toronto June meetup!
Loved seeing so many passionate AI builders and tinkerers in one room, we sure brought that community spirit to Accenture, our host and sponsor -- and threw some code on the big screens last night! Here’s a quick recap of the demos:
- Alan Wunsche kicked us off with autonomous AI agents demo using the open-source crewAI framework; super fast-evolving space and a glimspe of an agentic future.
- Shingai Manjengwa brought the two worlds together with blockchain-based trust in AI decision-making systems talk and demo of a marketplace where trust in how agents collaborate and communicate can be properly permissioned.
- Joshua C. took us through his Go implementation of Karpathy’s llm.c, and presented his interactive transformer architecture demo + awesome bonus rant on how the transformer graphic we're so used to seeing is in fact all wrong and needs an update!
- Aashni Shah 🎉 did a great demo on using AI for employee reviews from user-inputted data, and fielded questions about how similar HR systems were gamified in the past -- and how her HypeDocs can be different and better.
- Arup Saha's demo was on LLMs extracting insights from tabular data, something many of us who worked for large enterprises would be familiar with. SQL still rules, as do relational databases.
- Sohaila Ali, a young ambassador for Canada Learning Code Introduced EcoLoop, her latest hackathon project: an AI-powered platform for evaluating new ideas in new ways.
- We wrapped up with Jai Mansukhani's OpenSesame, an attempt to detect and mitigate LLM hallucinations, which is of course an important topic of discussion!
Tired this morning, but grateful for everyone who came, helped out, and stepped up for the event to work as well as it did. Loved talking with Nick Chen, Addison Cameron-Huff, Shingai Manjengwa, Jake Hirsch-Allen, the many artists !!! we had in the room, and our community partners Women in AI & Robotics! Grateful to our hosts Krish Banerjee and the Accenture team, and convinced we have the world's best MC in Eric Boyd who is certifiably and provably awesome. There was so, so much pizza! And, a proper patio time and afterparty with Jake's LinkedIn crew.. And now.. coffee ☕
AI Tinkerers is a community for practitioners with technical, ML, and entrepreneurial backgrounds who are actively building with foundation models like LLMs and generative AI. We provide a space for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.
