Apples-to-apples comparisons are needed for informed climate decisions and real solutions. Excited to see this third-party assessment that should help provide stakeholders information in way that can be easily compared and understood in context.
By manufacturing cement without the fiery hot kiln, we aren’t releasing pollution (CO2, SOx, NOx, CO, mercury, and kiln dust particulates) that needs to be cleaned up later. We are proud to share a new screening life cycle assessment (LCA) proves just how impactful our true zero, carbon-avoidance approach is: Sublime Cement’s manufacturing process enables a >90% reduction in global warming potential relative to today’s industry-average OPC!! This validation comes from Climate Earth, the leader in environmental product declarations for the concrete industry. These documents are the nutrition labels for environmental impact, using rigorous, widely accepted calculations that do not incorporate controversial offset strategies such as forestry and direct air capture. We are grateful to Climate Earth’s and Chris Erickson's leadership in standardizing measurement, reporting, and verification for our industry so builders can analyze new, low-carbon materials with real data. This is an exciting step in our journey and gives our partners the confidence that Sublime Cement™ is a powerful tool for lowering their embodied carbon! Prince George conservation group talks wood pellets in Japan "Envirocrite" - an Environmentalist-Hypocrite. Just a few quick thoughts. If envirocrites are truly committed to their cause, they would understand the idea of what you want vs what is practical are two different things. For example, our Environmental Minister, Steven Gilbeault spent his time at the Cop 28 conference promoting un-realistic climate targets for Canada, and the world. In the perfect world these would be your goals. However, we live in the real world. We are always faced with the concept of "The lesser of two evils". So going back to Mr Gilbeault.....Understanding the the world is imperfect, due to many numerous factors, wouldn't it have been a better idea to promote Canada's LNG as a supply to other countries to get off coal and diesel for heating and electricity?! Wouldn't that be a more reasonable, realistic action by our Environmental Minister? Also, I go back to realistic targets. I recently posted an article on BC Hydro having to purchase electricity from the US due to shortages on the grid. The Site C dam delays, increases on EV's and population growth have contributed to a strain on our grid. Every envirocrite is complaining about global warming. What happens when the sun stops shinning? What happens when the wind stops blowing? What happens when the water stops flowing? Realistically, we need to keep electricity on our grids to fulfill our mandatory, necessary obligations like hospitals, traffic control, water & sewage plants, climate controls, and heating. A safe player would realize that you also need a secondary standby electrical system, which is powered by NG, diesel, or coal. Well again, we go back to our "Lesser of two evils law", wouldn't NG be a good back-up plan? Let's stop being ignorant folks. If our envirocrites were truly dedicated to the cause, there would be a world-wide shortage on pine cones. I hope I don't have to explain that on further.

Our manufacturing process creates a drop-in replacement for today's portland cement with >90% emissions reduction, validated by Climate Earth! So many great details in here, but I think my favorite quote is: "The remaining emissions were largely related to the mining and transportation of feedstocks and waste and wastewater treatment, processes that are primarily upstream and downstream of Sublime’s core manufacturing innovations. Sublime’s screening LCA also showed drastically reduced acidification and eutrophication potentials (among others) without increased water consumption, reflecting a lower environmental footprint and permitting timeline compared to today’s OPC." #LCA #decarbonization #cement #electrification #embodiedcarbon

Government Tree Planting Meets Less Than Half It's Annual Target While the Government’s tree planting targets are welcome, the Environmental Audit Committee concludes it is extremely unlikely that they will be met with only two autumn through spring planting seasons to go to meet the Government’s March 2025 deadline. Woodland creation is integral to delivering many of the Government’s sustainability goals, including achievement of its net zero and nature restoration targets. Trees and woodlands are clearly essential to the provision of timber and other wood products: UK-sourced timber will help meet the growing demand for low-carbon construction materials, and biomass from woodland residues could continue to play a role in bioenergy generation, if governed well and sustainably sourced.
