Myelinated Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer “MRNF” These are fundus photos and Refraction results of two pediatric patients has unilateral MRNF with Myopia. Present in about 1% of the population. Can occur bilaterally in approximately 7% of affected patients. Most patients with MRNF are asymptomatic; however, some patients have associated ocular findings including axial myopia, amblyopia, and strabismus. #Myopia #Strabismus #Amblyopia

From American College of Physicians's Annals of Internal Medicine: A retrospective observational study on a 20% random sample of Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries hospitalized, 2016-19, and treated by hospitalists suggests that "patients have lower mortality and readmission rates when treated by female physicians, and the benefit of receiving treatments from female physicians is larger for female patients than for male patients." While atrial fibrillation ablation procedures are generally considered safe and effective, side effects still happen. There is no general risk stratification for patients undergoing this procedure or how to manage specific side effects such as a persistent iatrogenic atrial septal defect. In this paper, the team and I at Community Memorial Health Center discuss a case of right-to-left cardiac shunting after A-fib ablation and review the pertinent literature regarding a persistent septal defect after ablation. https://lnkd.in/g6RiBBCK

At current pricing, the use of quadruple therapy in patients with HFrEF was cost effective compared with triple therapy and double therapy. These findings highlight the need for improved access and optimal implementation of comprehensive quadruple therapy in eligible patients with HFrEF.
