🔷One of my colleagues, Mark Herzog MHSA FACHE, shared a perspective that one of the greatest challengers to healthcare service delivery/quality is the trend toward care fragmentation. 🔷Care fragmentation happens due to process and structural changes in the healthcare delivery system. Examples might include acquisition of single provider elements (like purchase of PCP's by CVS, Walmart, or specialty care acquisitions by P.E. firms). Other examples include the reduction in coordinated care due to IT-use barriers/time constraints or pay systems that optimize units of service in preference to care coordination of service. 🔷✅Whatever the reason, fragmentation of clinical care almost always results in a reduction in patient experience, provider satisfaction and clinical outcomes. ➡️➡️Attached is one of those 'duh, no kidding' research studies that demonstrates why fragmentation is a negative (or said differently...care coordination for complex care is a good thing.).

Tenet's ambulatory business segment United Surgical Partners International saw big growth throughout 2023. Here are four notes on USPI's 2023 and fourth-quarter growth: 1. USPI's net operating revenues for the fourth quarter of 2023 was more than $1 billion, a 15.4% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. 2.
