There's no way I'm sharing the cake 🙅♀️ – this is probably what many freelancers think of when it comes to working together on a project. But if done right, freelancer collaborations can be a win-win-win situation for everyone involved.   That was certainly the case when I recently worked with Alexandra Edl from Edl Consulting AG on an HR project for the car rental company Sunny Cars . Alexandra led the project, and I supported her from the background without direct client contact, providing ad hoc expertise where needed. Our collaboration made sure that the client received the best possible service.   Here is what I have learned: 💡 Freelancer collaborations are particularly useful when the project scope is broad and requires diverse know-how. In my case, I supported Alexandra with additional expertise on Skill Matrices, Salary Benchmarking and Salary Bands. 💡 The most important requirement is to get the client's agreement for collaboration, as clients often prefer to work with a single consultant. It is therefore important to ensure that the customer experience remains seamless, that the client has a single point of contact, and that communication is clear and simple. 💡 For clients, freelancer collaborations are a great way to access specialized knowledge on an as-needed basis, keeping costs down and efficiency high. And the results will certainly be better than hiring a generalist consultant.   My project with Alexandra was my first experience collaborating with another freelancer in this capacity – and I will certainly do it again.   Have you had any experience with freelancer collaborations? How did they work out for you? Let's discuss in the comments! 💬

Great post, When I was a professional dancer, I did work with other freelancers to collaborate on projects. In our case, one person had the main contract and reached out to us to support them with their performance. It's old by now, but here is the video of the result 😅 https://youtu.be/SqBD9TRyBUM?si=RMGi8u5mKYK8674A In our case it was really good and a great win-win-win situation.

Thanks for the share, Marie. I've never worked as a freelancer before and I'm new to HR consulting, but I would say that the most important thing when working together with your network is trust and reliability. If the "co-worker“ doesn't deliver on time or the work isn't of the same standard, it can be difficult. Nevertheless, I think it's a great way to share knowledge and win together. HR consultants should not act as takers, but rather as givers (or matchers) to create even greater value for our clients.
