Fostering a culture of mutual respect in the workplace is successful when everyone is committed to that goal. Respectful behavior may be intuitive to some in the office, but most people can benefit from a reminder of how to act on their best and most respectful instincts. As you search for work or start a new job, you can set an example as someone who tries to treat others with respect and convey that feeling in an interview and in your first interactions with your new coworkers. #EdgeConcepts #Respect #WorkEnvironment https://lnkd.in/eGkbfqzz

🌟 Curious about a company's culture before you join? Here are 5 must-ask questions during your interview: 1️⃣ "Could you describe the company's culture in your own words?" This open-ended question allows the interviewer to share their personal perspective, giving you an authentic glimpse into the daily work environment. 2️⃣ "How does the company support professional development and growth?" This shows you're keen to progress and also reveals if they invest in their employees' futures. 3️⃣ "Can you give examples of how the company lives out its values?" Companies often tout their values, but their real culture shines through in actions, not just words. 4️⃣ "What are the team's rituals for celebrating success?" This can tell you a lot about the company's approach to recognition and camaraderie. 5️⃣ "How does the company approach work-life balance?" The answer will help you understand the expectations and pressures you might face outside of standard working hours. Remember, an interview is a two-way street. It's about finding the right fit for both parties. Don't shy away from asking these insightful questions to ensure their values align with yours. 🌟 #JobInterview #CompanyCulture #CareerGrowth

Workplace success thrives on integrity and how we act. Each of us shapes our own path and the company's future. Our values and choices, both within and beyond those office walls, can either fortify or fracture the very foundation of our professional journey. Excellence isn't only what's on our resumes or skills showcased in interviews. True excellence comes from the core of an individua, being honest, accountable, responsible, and ethical – qualities that grow over time. Unlike bullet points on a CV, that cannot be discerned at a glance As we start we progress in our careers, lets remember: our actions and decisions matter. Our professional journey is a canvas where integrity shines. Let's make integrity a cornerstone of our collective success. By valuing it, we guide others too. Together, we can create workplaces where excellence and integrity blend beautifully. #IntegrityMatters #CollectiveSuccess #personalconduct

I'll save you a click: the advice is not to ask about work-life balance. The article suggests that "Asking hiring managers about the company’s work-life balance can create an impression that you aren’t engaged, reliable or committed to the role." How do you feel about the question? Is it a fair one to ask in the interview process? Does it signal any red flags? If so, what do you think is a better way to ask the question?

"I CAN SUE YOU FOR THAT" - A cautionary tale John had been with the company for five years and was eagerly waiting for a promotion. When he finally got called in for an interview, he was excited and confident. However, things quickly turned sour when the interviewer asked, "Do you have any children or plans to start a family soon?" John was shocked and offended. He knew that this type of question was illegal and discriminatory. He replied, "That question is inappropriate and illegal. I can sue you for asking that." The interviewer, taken aback, stumbled to apologize and move on to other questions. But the damage had been done. John left the interview feeling angry and disheartened. Dear Business Owners, Line Managers, HR Pros, questions like: "When do you intend to get married?" "Will you be having more children?" "Are you a Christian/Muslim/Traditionalist?" etc. are biased, morally wrong, and can put your company in a bad light. Every employee wants to enjoy a culture of inclusivity and respect in the workplace so let us focus on what counts - the abilities, knowledge, potential, and contributions the employee can make to your business. Personal aspects of their lives should not be a factor in promotion decisions. Agree? Are there other inappropriate work phrases that should be avoided? I would like to read more in the comment session. #Mind2screen #inappropriateworkphrases #promotion #skills #promotioncriteria #inclusivity

My new favorite question for the interviewer: "Who is your best employee and why?" Pay attention to their rationale; they will subconsciously let you know their value system. For example, the employer who says "Jane, because she is such a hard worker. She is here early every day, finishes her charts even if she has to stay late; is always going above and beyond; she just gives her all and it is so appreciated." ⚠️ At first this may seem endearing, but pay attention - they did not say "Jane is awesome because she is highly efficient and gets the job done well." Instead they highlighted the amount of time she spends. This employer is one who will value an employee who is an over-worker, someone who bleeds company motto. This could be a benign statement, or you could find this person to be the type of boss who expects you to sacrifice work-life balance for the company. Tread with caution friends! #nursepractitioners #nursepractitionerjobs #interviewtips #interviewpreparation

Breakasweat By Reshma Merchant - Workplace Wellness | Driving Wellness Solutions, Bespoke Experiences and Engagements
Today a very interesting thought crossed my mind : Instead of seeing your mundane work routine as a hindrance to your passion, view it as a canvas for creativity and innovation. Every task, no matter how routine, offers an opportunity to inject your unique perspective, skills, and enthusiasm. By approaching each day with a mindset of curiosity and a commitment to excellence, you can transform even the most mundane tasks into meaningful contributions that align with your passion and purpose. For example : Let’s consider 3 tasks 1. Reviewing resumes 2. Conducting interviews 3. Company Culture Here are my 2 cents of how you could infuse passion and innovation into these activities: Reviewing Resumes : Instead of simply scanning resumes for qualifications, approach each one with curiosity and empathy. Look beyond the bullet points to understand the person behind the document. Consider how their unique experiences and skills could contribute to the team culture or bring fresh perspectives to the organization. Interviews : Rather than following a standard script, personalize your approach to each interview. Take the time to really connect with candidates, asking thoughtful questions that go beyond the surface to uncover their passions, values, and motivations. Create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves authentically, allowing you to gauge not only their qualifications but also their potential to fit within the company culture. Company Culture: Rather than simply enforcing policies and procedures, actively cultivate a positive and inclusive company culture. Encourage open communication, collaboration, and recognition of individual contributions. Organize events and initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote well-being, and foster a sense of belonging among employees. By infusing passion and innovation into your daily routine, you can create a more engaging and fulfilling work environment for both yourself and your colleagues, while also driving positive outcomes for the organization as a whole. #reshmamerchant #iammultifit #multifitwellness #passionandinnovation #mentalhealth #corporatewellness #corporateculture #healthypractices #healthandwellness #advocatinghealth #mindbodyandsoul #corporatehealthandwellbeing #WellnessCulture #HealthyHappyHour #wellnessworkplace Multifit Wellness

As with most things, it's probably wise to prepare yourself for at least a little disappointment. Being able to speak to many people at a company during your interview process is a great way for you to get a gauge on what your day to day could look like there. Remember, these conversations are two-way so it's just as important that you come prepared with questions as they do. If you don't, you might miss some key information that would have had you putting a little red cross down next to their name in your mind. Some great questions to ask could be: ✏ How do you encourage and support the growth and skills of individual team members at your company? ✏ What are the core values that drive this company? Do most people uphold these values? ✏ How do you encourage a good work/life balance among your employees? ✏ What made you want to join this company? Are you enjoying your job? Without digging deeper from the initial exchange of skills and experience, you just might end up in a workplace that looks great on paper but the reality is a real slog.
