When it’s time to provide constructive feedback, these tips can help foster growth and effective communication: 1. Create a safe space - Establish an environment of trust and respect so both parties feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. 2. Be specific and share observations - Avoid using high-level, vague statements about the concern. Provide feedback within 24-36 hours when possible. 3. Share the impact of the behavior - Why is a change needed? 4. Be an active listener - Feedback should be a 2-way conversation, where the employee has an opportunity to share their perspective and ask questions. Listen without interrupting and ask clarifying questions if needed. 5. Clarify next steps - What are the expectations? What resources or support does the employee need to be successful? What opportunities can you identify for providing feedback more effectively? #tipsforleaders #executivecoach #leadershipcommunication #feedbackmatters #resilientbusinesses #teamcollaboration #effectivecommunication #leadingwithpurpose #feedbackculture #feedbackmanagement

When a colleague offers feedback on how you can improve, it's likely coming from a genuine desire to support your professional growth. However, they might not realize how their approach can be perceived as annoying or frustrating. It's essential to approach such situations with empathy and an open mind. Consider that their intentions are likely positive, even if their delivery may fall short. Providing constructive feedback on their communication style can help them understand how to better convey their insights in a way that's more conducive to collaboration and mutual respect. Remember, fostering a culture of open dialogue and feedback benefits everyone in the workplace and promotes continuous improvement. Let's strive to communicate effectively and support each other's development journey. #ProfessionalGrowth #ConstructiveFeedback #EffectiveCommunication

We've become increasingly aware that both giving and receiving feedback are important skills through organisations. Last month, Rocio Salinas Lobo at Locaria asked us to deliver a webinar on exactly that. Iain Christie explored with participants how we can build a stronger feedback culture within organisations by looking at the perspective of both the giver and receiver. We shared models and tools to help give people the confidence to have those difficult conversations. Both delivering and receiving challenging messages with grace and composure, helping emphasise the importance of feedback and normalising this critical, organisational process. #givingandreceivingfeedback #feedback #courageousconversations #communication #learninganddevelopment #inclusiveleadership

Providing proper feedback is essential in many contexts, whether you're mentoring an employee, critiquing a friend's work, or responding to a service you've received. Constructive feedback can facilitate growth, strengthen relationships, and foster better communication. So then I wonder why providing feedback is something so many people struggle with, and even more so how many people admit to having real challenges in providing it? #feedbackculture #constructivefeedback
