One of my former managers told me once “don’t polish the cannon ball”…..his point being - I had analyzed the information enough, it was time to launch. There are certain jobs or assignments where 100% accuracy is critical, however for most of us, if we have between 60-75% of the information, make a decision and go…..take risks, go fast, be transparent, learn and adjust. That’s how winning is done.
Sympathetic though I am to this viewpoint, I would caution that context must be accounted for. A good example is safety critical systems, here 5sigma confidence is still marginal. Risk and reward have to be analysed prior to major investment. Agility in business is vital but must be tempered by real understanding rather than faith or over confidence.
Perfect is the enemy of good

Great points. Taking action definitely teaches us more than waiting for the perfect moment.

In IT, that is 100% true! But, validation is the key regardless!
I agree! Never let perfect be the enemy of good.
“Make a decision and do it like hell.” - Patton
Good insight!

3w“Go fast, take risks” has been ingrained on my brain for decades. I wait until I’m 80% sure I have enough information. If it goes well. I learn from what happened. If it goes poorly, I learn from what happened. The biggest difference is if I have to do additional rework.
