For me, joining such a big family is a wonderful experience. How to say it? Firstly, I witnessed a unique morning meeting. As a newcomer who has just joined the company and knows nothing about the situation, suddenly facing a new environment and colleagues, tension and anxiety are inevitable. However, gradually, I also feel the kind attitude of all colleagues chatting casually, as well as the tolerance and understanding of me as an introverted and shy person. It is indeed a slight relief of one's tension. Although it was a bit awkward when introducing myself. Secondly, the boss is very talkative. Each of his words is not just an encouraging conversation, nor is it nonsense, but rather carries a certain meaning. For example, about communication. He will talk about how to communicate and why to communicate, and using his own practical language to guide everyone's thinking and discussion, all of which have benefited me a lot. Overall, my first day at work was a great experience. I feel welcomed and supported by the people around me. Although there are challenges, the sense of achievement at the end of the day makes everything worthwhile. I am looking forward to the future and the opportunity to learn and grow in this new role. #CBMTEC #gascylinder #medicalequipment #pressurevessel

C-Suite Leader | Private Equity Consultant | Board Advisor | Networked Generalist | Synergist | M&A | Testing Inspection Certification (TIC)
Driving home from Florida over the weekend, I was thinking about various topics such as family, our recent spring break trip, my time in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC), and then oddly my thoughts turned to social media. For my wife and I having four young kids, social media stays at the forefront of our minds. What is it, should they be engaged with it, who is on it, and how much time with it is appropriate, if at all? Randomly my mind transitioned to the terms "followers" and "connections" when thinking about one's network on a social media platform. Then I started thinking about my network, my real-life network and my social media network. To be transparent, I am not much of a social media person. My experience has only been limited to LinkedIn. When you think about a network, it is a group of people helping each other directly and indirectly. A group of people who have the potential to provide something greater together than an individual can alone. Therefore, I believe social capital would be a more appropriate term to describe one’s network. So why are the terms “followers” and connections” used? Yes, we connect, and we may even follow each other, but should we not be using a term like “enhancers” in their place? Thinking about my life and my network, most people who have joined my network have enhanced my life in some way or form, personally, socially, culturally, professionally, and sometimes even financially. This leads me to the purpose of the post. This month will mark 26 years I have been in TIC, and in that time, I have had many “enhancers” join my network professionally and personally. From Stephen Hughes and Chris McCullough who opened the door for me into TIC by hiring me as a chemist in the Crude Assay Department at Intertek (ITS back then). To Joe Curtis who supported my transition from technical and quality contributor to P&L leader at Inspectorate America Corporation. Kevin Somers who opened doors for me at Inspectorate and Bureau Veritas to begin my journey as a senior leader. Charles Noall and Jeff Joyce, SPHR who presented me the opportunity to lead and contribute at Element Materials Technology as an executive. Ahmad Sheikh and Chris Harris who gave me the opportunity to look deeper inside the world of private equity behind TIC. And to all my colleagues and team members over the last 26 years who have personally contributed to my development, experience, success and ultimately my network of friends, colleagues and associates who make up my social capital. TIC has provided me with an amazing opportunity and rewarded me with too many "enhancers" to name individually. Each has contributed in some way to enhance my professional and personal life. Thank you to all the individuals who make up my social capital, and those who continue to enrich and enhance my life beyond my imagination. I look forward to continuing my journey in TIC over the years to come and building upon my social capital.

Had a fantastic time yesterday delivering a keynote on cooling conflict to the hardworking inspectors at the Office of Industrial Relations in Queensland. Hats off to you folks – you've got some of the toughest yet crucial jobs out there. We dug into a couple of key points: 1. Stay Calm, Stay Sharp: When things heat up, keeping cool is your number one tool. A deep breath and a moment to name what you're feeling can make all the difference. 2. It's All About Understanding: Recognising that behind every heated response is a human need can change the game. Meeting these needs isn’t just good sense – it’s a pathway to real solutions. The dedication I saw yesterday? It's what makes these roles so vital. To everyone who joined, thanks for your commitment and for inviting me into your world. I look forward to crossing paths again on this journey. Keep doing the incredible work you do.

160 years 👏 Longevity like this doesn't come easy. The transitions this company has gone through to serve it's markets is incredible. It almost makes the energy transition seem like a rinse and repeat (... almost ....). So what have I taken from DNV's legacy. 📚 Invest in your team. Build a thirst for knowledge. A capability to perform. And the motivation to exceed the limits of what's possible. 🤝 Be a partner our customers can trust. Settle for nothing short of excellence and match your customers enthusiasm to deliver exceptional results on every project. 📣 Share our learnings with industry. Not for brand positioning, but to give others ... including our competitors ... the knowledge to better safeguard life, property, and the environment (and to challenge our perspectives from time-to-time too). I have taken so much from my circa 2 years at DNV and hope to be around for a lot longer. Hopefully long enough to make the next birthday bash. DNV clearly knows how to celebrate a milestone 🎉 #LifeAtDNV
