🤩 We are happy to announce that the 2nd Solar TAP industry day will take place at HZB/BESSY II in Berlin on November 11th, 2023. 💡 The Solar TAP #innovation platform unites the infrastructures from Forschungszentrum Jülich, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) to develop innovative solutions for photovoltaic applications. The aim is to make existing areas in agriculture, the building sector and transport additionally usable for the expansion of solar energy with printed solar cells. In this way, not "only" green energy is generated, but in certain applications additional benefits are created and thus a multi-benefit for the respective application. Together with a network of industrial partners, Solar TAP is developing the necessary technologies and transferring the results along the entire value chain "lab-to-fab" in order to quickly make these new PV solutions market-ready and accelerate the commercial use of the technologies. 👉 Participation is open to industrial partners along the value chain that are interested in joining Solar TAP! Succesfully closed call for Networking and Event Support in 2024 Nordic Energy Research's programme Nordic Energy Research Mobility has shown great success during its first months in progress. One of the standout activities is the call Networking and Event Support that has now been closed, granting funding to four well-planned events. The events are all initiated and managed by Nordic researchers and put focus on research fields relevant to sustainable energy where the inherent value of Nordic collaboration is evident. The four events are:  – Nordic Workshop for Nature-positive Solar Energy, Aalto University  – Nordic Offshore Wind Conference – Connecting the Baltic Sea with the North Sea, Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark  – Photovoltaic/Thermal Technologies and Applications in the Nordics: Challenges and Opportunities, DTU - Technical University of Denmark  – Energy Informatics Academy Nordic 2024, Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark The successful funding of these events has fully utilized our budget of 500,000 NOK for 2024. 🌞 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 🔋 In the quest to harness solar energy more efficiently, researchers are exploring the fascinating world of halide perovskites. A recent study by Wei Wei, Julian Gebhardt, Daniel F. Urban, and Christian Elsässer dives deep into how these materials can transform solar energy storage, specifically focusing on the migration of Li ions in CsPbI3 crystals. 🔍 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: The study highlights two structural states of CsPbI3 - the fast ion limit, where Li ions move quickly in a rigid lattice, and the slow ion limit, where the lattice adapts around Li ions. 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: The migration barriers for Li ions are promisingly low, between 0.22 and 0.33 eV, suggesting efficient ion movement, crucial for battery applications. 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: This research suggests that LixCsPbI3 could be a suitable material for integrating solar cells with Li-ion batteries, paving the way for advanced photo-batteries that could revolutionize energy storage and delivery. 🔬 These findings mark a significant step towards sustainable, integrated solar energy systems that could change how we think about solar energy storage.
