Disruptive Diversity’s Post

Team....where would any of us be without them. Many of us would not have a sense of belonging....many of us would lack versatility in our skillsets...our mindsets.... and many of us would lack community.... Without team....we lack three-dimensional mirrors that reflect a prism of our current posture of growth. They shed light to where we are doing well and where we could get 2% better. More than all they infuse us with the encouragement necessary to build creative confidence, and remind us that our individual impact can never outweigh the group. Still...now a week later...at the midnight hour....I look at this picture and I rest in gratefulness for being apart of this team. It's amazing to see the outsized returns this team has produced over year. Whether it's returning 30% of our fund for companies post 6 month of our accelerator, to arming approximately 2,000 architects, creatives, and techies with keen insights to become more cohesive as a team, they have done it. From crafting and sharing the most compelling stories through media, to operationally ensuring we are lean and efficient, I couldn't be more proud of who we have and are becoming. Of course, this picture won't be the same overtime, but no matter the weather, their will always be a like mission....a like vision....and a shared purpose that unites us and binds us together for eternity. Just expressing appreciation for a rare moment in time, where hearts and like minds are aligned. I know an individual who persisted in being reckless and arrogant until experiencing isolation after facing their first setback in life. These are organizations that fail to effectively and transparently manage their teams, neglecting to share successes with them. In managing my team, I implement a strategy of offering unlimited potential for salary growth. An individual starts with a fixed salary but can increase it along with bonuses based on the value of the ideas they contribute. Furthermore, if someone presents a comprehensive business idea that leads to revenue growth, I ensure they receive a continuous percentage of the revenues, always with the agreement of stakeholders. It is important to helping them in their personal lives and sharing their joys and sorrows.

I have never liked this red wall but God, I love my team. Took us months to get here but there was a lot of things that went into it. Met people who already had an established team, read researches and books over managing a team and what not. Yeah, went a bit crazy again but it did help a bitttt I would say. What helped me the most was just going with the flow. Making a basic system, implementing it, finding flaws in it and then changing it again and again and again! Now, it's much much better. Not claiming any numbers and also not claiming to be how I see co-founders and CEOs over LinkedIn (They seem so perfect over LinkedIn idk how). I realised that managing a team is the hardest thing to do. Sometimes it felt like I had kids of my own honestly. Then one fine day, I decided that my kids were old enough to take their own decisions and I let them free. I got stressed out in the start (just like normal parents) but the way they performed without me over their heads all the time was exceptional. From that day onwards, I am just an extra in their lives (I guess that's also how normal parents feel after a while?). It isn't perfect but who wants perfect? Jokes apart, trust your team. Give them a decision power. Give them the liberty to discuss things with you and let them soar. And yes, they wont overpower you ( I never felt like that jsyk). Just trust them :) Still learning so any feedback is welcomed!

When we step into our work shoes each day, the assumption is that we are bringing the best version of ourselves. And that's only possible when we are truly happy at our workplace. Grateful to teams such as human resources, CRES, internal communications, (in a Swiss Re context one of them is the 'Funtastic' team)- they are named and structured differently across organizations, but they come together with a common vision- to keep employees happy and engaged. And they sweat and toil for weeks and months in the background just to bring us the joy of engaging events, where we are able to channel our inner selves to showcase something we truly love doing. We let down our guards and have fun; we do it for ourselves and not just for the claps. And the positive externalities flow in naturally- we work and network better, there's a spirit of coopetition, we emerge more confident- willing, and eager to show up at work with a smile on our face. 😊 A big thank you to each one of you- for creating magic at Swiss Re! Reflection time while completing a puzzle with our children. -       All team members are valuable to complete the task. -       Having a clear picture of what needs to be done will give direction and set right expectations. -       It is essential to understand that you are doing it as a team. -       Listening to even the smallest voice will have a big impact. -       Sorting and prioritization help to make the work easier. -       Pieces which do not fit needs to put back on the pool of backlog and revisit time to time to make sure the appropriate usage in a timely manner. In real life, it will be assorted puzzles to solve and sometimes pieces are mixed with other sets of puzzles.  It maybe troublesome at first to the extent that we will be frustrated, just take a deep breath, and move on to achieve the goal. Communicate properly and focus on identifying the solution and not finding who is at fault. There are also situations which are out of our control, and we don’t have power to change it – what matter’s most is how are we going to respond. The most important part is enjoying your time building the puzzles together and celebrate even the smallest accomplishment :) P.S.  In finding a job, make sure that you will be part of the puzzle and that you belong on a bigger picture. If you do not fit, that is totally fine -remember puzzle comes in multiple designs, number of pieces and sizes. Maybe the next position will be the best fit for you 😊

Kindness is such a gift and it's something we can all offer regardless of our abilities, resources, or background. One thing I'm proud of is how much more kind I've become compared to previous versions of myself. I used to be very judgmental, critical, arrogant, and dismissive of others. Our own struggles can humble us and make us better people. I know mine have. If you've spent much time around me, you know that my mood, emotions, ability to concentrate, and energy levels fluctuate intensely and unpredictability (often multiple times daily). It's a biological trait of an ADHD brain. People with autism have similar challenges. I bring this up not to seek sympathy, but to educate and create better understanding of those with brains that function differently than most. I truly appreciate those who are kind to me even when I'm a pain in the ass to deal with or you don't know which version of Tim you're going to encounter 😃 We all have different strengths and weaknesses, and that's why building a team is so valuable. Let's keep being kind to each other. It can truly change the world!

This fantastic team. Not all are pictured but one thing is certain, invest in your PEOPLE. When you take care of them, they open up, they work hard and they FLOURISH. When your team members flourish, you actually have less to worry about. Control is for those with no trust. Pour your energy into your people, give them praise, assignments, make them feel valuable and you will not be let down. The best motivators are honesty, openness and naturalness. Trust that your coworkers will do the right thing....listen to their concerns and watch them rise above the bar you set for them. Squash them....and you will get what you deserve. Never been so grateful for an opportunity to work with such bright and principled individuals.

At times teams can get very busy and it is easy to let go of this pulse on motivation. However, this is the fuel that can propel service delivery, customer satisfaction and job satisfaction among employees. Thank you

Would they turn up to to your funeral? 🤔 That's what you need to ask yourself, about the people you surround yourself with If you surround yourself with clowns and lizards 🦎 That constantly try and keep you down. How can you possibly expect to achieve anything 🤷♂️ Your success is dependent on who you surround yourself with. So, if you want to truly unlock you potential💪 If you want to execute your mission effectively. It's time to start cleansing your environment! And build a team who shares the same vision, values and beliefs. Time is something we can't get back 😫 So choose who you spend your time with in a logically ruthless way. And watch your energy flow 🔥
