Hello. Привіт. Hallo. ሀሎ. مرحبًا. Bonjour. Bonjou. שלום. Jambo. سلام. ሰላም. Molo. शुभ दिन. Dobrý deň. I was reminded today of the simple power of the word Hello when I re-watched Sloane Davidson's Ted Talk on it. (https://lnkd.in/eg83mA4z. So often we get caught up in the busyness of our work, the grant deadlines, the reports due next week, the services that need to be completed or emerging crises. Let us remember the simple power of hello and that hospitality, in social work, business, or any industry for that matter, should be a two way conversation. A dialogue that that is approached with a posture of humility and cultural sensivitiy that provides a safe space in which communication lines open, and pathways to integration by walking alongside one another are forged. From Danny Meyer's book (Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business. HarperCollins Publishers, 2006): "Hospitality exists when you believe the other person is on your side. The converse is just as true. Hospitality is present when something happens for you. It is absent when something happens to you. Those two simple prepositions - for and to- express it all"(p. 20). "Hospitality is how the delivery of that product makes its recipient feel. Service is a monologue - we decide how we want to do things and set our own standards for service. Hospitality, on the other hand, is a dialogue. To be on a guest's side requires listening to that person with every sense, and following up with a thoughtful, gracious, appropriate response"(p. 65).

"Reflecting on a remarkable experience at the 'Integrated Case Study Open Exhibition 2024,' where our team had the privilege to present our in-depth analysis titled 'Bean There, Coffee as a Vehicle for Change.' We explored the inspiring narrative of a coffee business navigating the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. Our presentation not only highlighted the struggles but also underscored the resilience and adaptability that businesses, particularly in the coffee industry, exhibited during uncertain times. The 'Bean There' case study delved into the intricate dynamics of survival and transformation, showcasing how a humble cup of coffee became a powerful agent for positive change. Beyond the presentation, we curated an engaging activity for the audience, fostering interactive discussions and insights. It was heartening to witness the exchange of ideas and perspectives, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of such exhibitions. This journey has been a testament to the power of storytelling and the impact businesses can have on their communities. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the discourse on business resilience and societal transformation. #CaseStudy #CoffeeBusiness #ExhibitionExperience #LearningOutcomes #BusinessResilience"

Shoutout to all organisations doing good business! Follow the Good Business Charter campaign to promote how your business plays a vital role in good business! #GoodBusinessMatters #forceforgood #takeactionnow #sme #corporatebusiness
Good Business Week is already in full swing! So what is it all about? The economic crisis has been challenging, yet bad business news has played a parasitic role about downcast prospects. There is astounding GOOD business happening, so the Good Business Charter has taken action to showcase responsible business in a week of sharing purpose and activities that drive growth for a better world. In their own words: "...we champion those organisations who are quietly getting on with behaving responsibly. We need to celebrate the great work you are doing! We would LOVE to amplify this message and celebration of good business." We wholeheartedly support this campaign in our purpose and are very proud that Sam Beardall ☀️, Community Manager at the Good Business Charter, is a valued judge of The Good Small Business Awards 2024! How do you do good business? #goodbusinessweek #goodbusiness #goodnews

I’m very proud to have been nominated as a #BetterBusinessPioneer! The #BetterBusinessPioneer campaign by Avery & Brown | B Corp™, the The Better Business Network, and OPEN Media UK is shining a light on the power of individual action, celebrating positive contributions towards environmental or social impact made by various individuals in their professional lives: whether they’re a CEO of a business disrupting their industry, or an employee who goes above and beyond their day job to make a difference. The campaign is based on two principles: that all actions, no matter how small, can make a difference, and that sharing best practice is critical to encouraging change. Each small act of awareness, compassion, or environmental responsibility not only makes a tangible difference, but also inspires others to follow suit. It showcases that anyone, regardless of their background, resources, or circumstances, can be a #BetterBusinessPioneer. If you want to find out more about the campaign and how to get involved by nominating your own Better Business Pioneer visit: https://lnkd.in/ekmC5KPG I also nominate: Emily Coddington for the amazing impact she has had making Ticket Tailor the conscientious business it is today, and Jill Poet for amazing work she has done advocating purposeful business through ORB and publishing her recent book: Just Good Business
