What an outdoor education can do...
"It’s pretty impressive to say that I’ve been obsessed with a place since I was 13—thanks to the NatureBridge program!” For alum Anya Gupta, that place is Yosemite National Park. Starting with her eighth grade trip to NatureBridge Yosemite in 2014—a trip that Anya declares “changed my life”—Anya has been pursuing paths that would allow her to return to Yosemite to explore, discover and serve. Read about Anya's journey on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gC3yHkhp

April/May 2023 holiday break in goa. Was it hot?? Not when you are out in nature birding. Which brings me up to a topic: What's the difference between birding and birdwatching? A bird watcher is someone who has a fascination for birds and typically views and notices them but does not actively search for them Whereas a birder is someone who actively seeks out birds. Todays target is The Greater Coucal The Greater Coucal is a large bird that is a cross between a crow and a pheasant. Largely black with distinctive rusty wings, glossy underparts, a long and heavy black tail, and deep red eyes. Juveniles are much duller with white bars on the tail and underparts and variable amounts of black streaks on the wings and upperparts. Common across a range of habitats except very dense forests. Similar to Lesser Coucal, but Greater Coucal is larger with a longer bill and red eyes. Adult Greater Coucals also lack the white streaks on the wings seen on Lesser Coucal. The call is a series of deep, resonant “oop-oop-oop” notes. They are found in a wide range of habitats from jungle to cultivation and urban gardens. Greater Coucals are solitary or found in pairs, and move amidst dense growth, fanning and flicking tail often. They climb up into trees, but are poor fliers, lazily flying short distances. The diet of Greater Coucals includes insects, caterpillars, snails, small vertebrates like the Saw-scaled vipers, bird eggs, nestlings, fruits like Cascabela thevetia and seeds. They feed on the fleshy mesocarps of ripe fruits. Shot with a Samsung S21 FE5G attached to a Celestron Regal M2 100ED Spotting Scope with an adapter. For any other info feel free to contact me... International Zebra Day: Celebrating Nature's Striped Beauty! Did you know, that each Zebra has its own unique stripe pattern? Zebras recognize each other by their stripes, but to predators the stripes are confusing. The stripes help to cool the Zebra’s body temperature in the heat of the African sun. There are three types of Zebras: Plains and Mountain Zebra in Southern Africa, as well as Grevy’s Zebra in Eastern Africa.

It can not be any more simple:
Every experience in a national park is unique, and while everyone recognizes the names of iconic parks like Yellowstone and Yosemite, there are hundreds more that should be on everyone’s bucket list. We love discovering places not as well known that offer the beauty of nature and the power of history—only with fewer crowds and lines. Search a park by topic, activity, or even close to you in your state at: https://lnkd.in/ea7HnY6

Watch this excellent short film about the Grand Canyon, one of the Wonders of the World, and Indigenous people who have ancient and sacred ties to the canyon.
Today Grand Canyon National Park turns 105. Listen and learn from Native people whose ancestors inhabited what is now Grand Canyon National Park long before the park service existed, and who continue to live, work, and honor deep cultural ties here today. https://lnkd.in/e_6WajCj

Empowering Sustainable Construction: Energizing Communities Your Trusted Energy Broker in Commercial real estate and Construction.
Each food items in a typical U.S. meal has traveled an average of 1,500 miles....If every U.S. citizen ate just one meal a week (any meal) composed of locally and organically raised meats and produce we would reduce our country's oil consumption by over 1.1 million barrels of oil every week. Do you know where your food comes from? The farmers in our community provide the crops, fruits, and vegetables that make up our produce section. Farms and ranches small and large are the backbones of our economy. And they need your support! Depending on how we spend them, our food dollars can either go to support a food industry devoted to quantity and convenience and “value” or they can nourish a food chain organized around values—values like quality and health. Yes, shopping this way takes more money and effort, but as soon you begin to treat that expenditure not just as shopping but also as a kind of vote—a vote for health & our countries well being in the largest sense. #SupportLocalFarmers #profoundfarms #texasfarmers #sustainablefarming #DFWcommunity #eatlocal
