I love Alaska, it's pure magic. I can't imagine experiencing this kind of freedom anywhere else in the world. Agree? #aviation #aerospace #space
In outback Western Australia you dont even need a road. We did a stream sediment survey near Meekatharra in 1970's using a helicopter AND a Cessna 172, the latter for the many relatively flat treeless areas.
I’m sure it’s great! Have you been there in December/January? 🙄🥶🥶
Strong opinion!

I'd rather share the road with a plane than an electric scooter. lol
Ultra-short take off !
Seen it occur out in the bush in Australia on occasion, one memorable time was when a schoolboy off a station outside Quilpie, used to fly himself to Charlieville to go to school. Some 200 kms away.
Not sure the FAA would sign off on this

1moI grew up in Alaska and flew planes commercially. This is is Willow, that's the Parks Hwy (#3) and he is leaving the Sheep Creek Lodge. Operating on roads with aircraft is usually only done when we don't have a suitable dirt strip someplace nearby. In Wasilla, when I was young people would use an old dirt path behind a strip mall and park in the grass. Sometimes it would be too busy (several planes) so they would land on the road instead. (this same road, in fact), None of this is happening on very heavy traffic roads or in the more developed areas.
