Denver Health made a strong showing at last Saturday’s Heart Walk for the American Heart Association (AHA), which celebrates its 100th anniversary this month! The event helped raise awareness and support for research and treatment of heart disease and stroke, which are among the leading causes of death for men and women. Special thanks to our nearly 50 employees, family members and dogs who joined in the walk around Sloan’s Lake as well as to those who made donations, helping our team raise more than $2,300 for the AHA! We are #DenverHealthProud ❤️. #DHSpotlight #DHCommunity #CardiovascularDisease #HeartDisease #Stroke #HeartWalk #AHABoldHearts

Reimagine is committed to promoting health and wellness within our community. As part of our participation in the Ride for Heart, we’re highlighting the importance of recognizing the signs of stroke, which can save lives during a medical emergency. Recognize a Stroke with FAST: F - Face: Is it drooping on one side? A - Arms: Can the person raise both arms, or is one arm weak? S - Speech: Is speech slurred or strange? T - Time: If you observe any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately. Knowing these signs and acting quickly can make a critical difference in stroke outcomes. Share this information with your colleagues, friends, and family to help raise awareness and potentially save lives. You can also support our participation in the Ride for Heart by donating. Donations are open until tomorrow! https://lnkd.in/gd8B-wuY #CorporateChallenge #RideForHeart #HeartAndStroke #StrokeAwareness #FAST #CommunityHealth #LifeSavingKnowledge

Writer, journalism & writing educator, National MS Society trustee & district activist leader, Red Sox fan.
In a little over one week, the Taco Salad Bike MS team -- comprised of my husband, two sons, and beloved UMass friends -- will be participating in a two-day biking event in Maine to raise money for the National MS Society. (The team's name is a riff on the fact that my photo was in a viral meme as the face of those who order taco salads.) Multiple sclerosis is an incurable autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. It interrupts the signals between the brain/spinal cord and the rest of the body after the immune system lays waste to the coating of the nerves. (Think of a phone charger after the plastic coating has worn away and the charger doesn't quite work properly or at least reliably.) There's medication to try to stave off disease progression and cope with myriad symptoms, but there is not yet a cure. If you'd like to give team Taco Salad one last boost, the link to donate to the team or to individual members (click on "roster") is below. Let's hope the weather in Maine next weekend isn't hot and humid! #multiplesclerosis #BikeMS #fundraising #chronicillness #nationalmssociety https://lnkd.in/etccWjaf

Will you help give hope to broken hearts? Heart disease is Australia's biggest killer, and it doesn't discriminate. It affects men, women and children. Your kindness can be a lifeline for heart patients, whether family or strangers, safeguarding their futures and dreams. But progress relies on research, and that's dependent on compassionate people like you. Your contribution is not just a donation; it's a crucial part of the research process. Please don't leave it too late to make your tax-deductible donation. Give generously by 30 June to fund promising research that could change the life of someone you love 👉https://lnkd.in/gSJHAuaJ

Friends and Family: Imagine that you are an expecting parent doing what they often do: buying clothes that will be too quickly outgrown; stocking up on diapers; and making list of names. You go to what should be another routine check-up to see how you or your partner is progressing. Your doctor comes into the room with someone you have never met. You know instantly that something is different. Rather than hearing the repeated phrase that “everything is as expected” – something you silently took for granted until now – you are told that you your soon to be born has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. You are disoriented. You do not know what to say or do. You can’t hear anything else that is being said. It is experiences like these that make Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound (“DSC”) such a vital part of our community. DSC’s “First Call Program” provide immediate resources and mentoring for parents that are processing the unexpected. To continue providing critical services like these, the DSC needs your support. If you are able, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/gbPpwUzQ Also, please consider participating in the upcoming Buddy Walk on October 8, 2023, at Woodland Park Zoo to show your support for the DSC community: https://lnkd.in/geDbqhVF

I don’t post much, but figured this would be as good as any reason to! My son, Connor, has joined the Kids Heart Challenge with his school! Our nephew, his cousin, has had 2 open heart surgeries, and isn’t even 2 yet! Heart health is important! If you’d be interested in helping with the challenge, and donating to help kids with special hearts, the link is below! He’s excited to see how much he can raise! ————————————- Why? Here's just some of the reasons: It's an awesome American Heart Association program that raises funds to help kids with special hearts and fight heart disease and stroke through lifesaving research. (This is my favorite reason.) I get to learn about the lifelong lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR and how to spot a stroke F.A.S.T., which could help save a life! I'm learning some great ways to help keep my heart healthy by drinking more water, moving more, getting good sleep and being kind. Will you support me in Kids Heart Challenge and help me help others? Click below to donate. Thanks so much for being a Heart Hero and for helping to save lives. Don't forget: You can double your gift! See if your employer will match your donation. Follow the steps and forward the confirmation to matchinggifts@heart.org to have the match added to my fundraising page. Donate Now https://lnkd.in/gX58QV8k

🌟 Join Me in Raising Awareness for Endometriosis! 🌟 This July, I’m walking 8000 steps a day to raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis, a condition affecting 1 in 10 women worldwide. This cause is very close to my heart ❤️, as I was diagnosed with Endometriosis at 19 after years of struggling with symptoms. Endometriosis is a chronic illness that affects people differently, and it takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis 😔 Currently, there is no cure. 8000 steps signifies the 8-year struggle women endure to get diagnosed. Please support by donating, liking, or sharing to raise awareness 🙏. 📅 Updates will follow... 13 days until the challenge begins! https://lnkd.in/eekXYGn7 #EndometriosisAwareness #CharityFundraiser #8000StepsADay #SupportTheCause #WomensHealth #EndometriosisAwareness #CharityFundraiser #8000MilesADay #SupportTheCause #WomensHealth
