Typical day in the office in 2023. Another CEO announcing massive layoffs. He disabled comments on his posts, so I'm writing a post. I am not surprised that Delivery Hero is cutting costs. I am outraged at how layoffs have become business as usual. Mr Östberg says: "As we have already seen in the last couple of years, this sometimes means adjusting headcount." I want to remind everyone No matter how many companies do it, No matter how many times we see it in the market, No matter how nice and fluffy the words you use to describe it, Layoffs are NOT part of doing business. --- If you are a software engineer and you have been impacted by this layoff, I offer you a free consultation to help you find a new and better job asap. Message me here on LinkedIn and I'll share my calendar with you. #layoffs2023 #layoffs
This morning, myself and the rest of the management team at Delivery Hero have informed employees that we will be closing two of our global tech hubs in Turkey and Taiwan, and support roles within our global teams, as well as conducting headcount adjustments within our Berlin headquarters. The changes are in line with our ambition to focus on creating the best possible offering, and increasing the efficiency and quality of our main platform and Quick Commerce businesses without compromising on our potential for long term growth. “Always delivering an amazing experience - fast, easy, and to your door” has been our simple guiding vision at Delivery Hero, one that has allowed us to transform a humble little start-up into the world’s leading local delivery platform. Together, we have aimed higher, delivered solutions, and built a caring ecosystem that has enabled us to hit many of our business’s key milestones. I know that all this has only been possible because of the hard work and dedication of our teams across the Delivery Hero Group. In order to build an economically sustainable and profitable business in an environment that has become more challenging for our industry, we have had to bring efficiencies across the organization. As we have already seen in the last couple of years, this sometimes means relocating functions, adjusting headcount or discontinuing operations. We will continue to contend with tough market competition and macroeconomic factors. We are now positioning ourselves to handle this in the best possible way. I understand that this is a very stressful situation to go through. I do not underestimate the impact that this will have on our employees, especially this close to the holiday season. I cannot repeat enough how much I appreciate all of their hard work and resilience despite some of the challenges we’ve had to face this year. I want to highlight that this decision has nothing to do with the amazing work our teams have done in the last few years. We are extremely proud of what our teams have achieved, and are grateful for all their hard work and dedication. This is a difficult process, but we will ensure that all colleagues are treated with the respect, care and consideration they deserve for their valuable contributions to the company.

Exciting update: Delivery Hero just announced some stellar results for H1 2023. The Berlin-based food-delivery platform has shown incredible growth and innovation in a dynamic environment. Impressive Revenue: Delivery Hero's revenue skyrocketed to 4.84 billion euros, a whopping 27% increase from last year. This boost was fueled by a surge in orders, highlighting the company's adaptability post-pandemic. Reduced Net Loss: Delivery Hero made significant strides in narrowing its net loss to EUR 832.3 million, compared to EUR 1.495 billion last year. Expanding Globally: Strategic expansion efforts, coupled with high order frequency, contributed to these impressive results. The acquisition of Glovo played a crucial role in broadening their global reach. Steady GMV Growth: GMV rose by 11% to EUR 22.28 billion. This consistent growth reflects Delivery Hero's ability to adapt to evolving consumer preferences. Positive Outlook: Excitingly, Delivery Hero maintains its previously raised guidance for the year ahead. Their dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction remains unwavering. However, the half-year report faced a challenging reception in the stock market since focus moved from growth to profitability. Delivery Hero shares have lost more than a quarter since the beginning of the year. But the company’s losses in the 2023 stock market year resulted primarily from a share price slump in February, when the company virtually shocked investors with surprisingly poor figures for the final quarter of 2022. Within a few weeks, the share price almost halved - and has only recovered moderately since then. #fooddelivery #qcommerce #fromhomecookingtonocooking #foodtech #efood #retail #stockmarket #growth #profitability

Today, a delivery driver from “…..” introduced himself as a "delivery boy." It made me wonder - are there better ways to describe this essential role? Companies like Deliveroo use "delivery hero," which is certainly positive! Here are some other respectful options: Delivery Driver (Clear and straightforward) Delivery Courier (Highlights service provider aspect) Delivery Associate (Emphasizes teamwork) What terms resonate with you? The food delivery giant Delivery Hero reported on their Q4 2023 today and the stock went up (better say recovered from the previous losses?) by 16% by the end of the trading day. The company had a rough couple of weeks when a rumor came out about a collapse in talks on selling its Asian brand foodpanda, DH even had to release the quarterly results ahead of the schedule trying to save the situation. Now, during the call, the company's CEO Niklas Östberg reassured the analysts that the company is doing just fine, and is ready to keep its assets for as long as needed. Somehow, this worked and the share price went up significantly. Overall financially Delivery Hero appears to be in good shape and is optimistic about the 2024 growth trajectory. Not much was said about the company's product and the plans to evolve it, but I guess there was a more urgent business to take care of during the call. I wonder what measure the company is going to take during the next couple of months to optimize its spending and make sure the investors are happy. #restaurants #fooddelivery #deliveryapps
