How often do you meet your investors in person? We have become so accustomed to meeting online that we don‘t always get to meet the founders in person before we invest. Online meeting culture has brought so many benefits but how well can you get a feel for an investor or founder, if you have never met in real life? While I absolutely enjoy that I can take more meetings due to not having to travel, there is still this question of whether or not we got the right impression of the founders we have only met online. I am glad about two things: 1) Our process seems to work because… 2) Luke is a top-notch founder with an important mission that we support. Being able to connect apart from work is also important to build the relationship between founders and investors. It‘s much easier in person without it being a 30 min meeting where you have to talk about the business. We as the earliest investors should not forget that we are mostly in the people business since we invest in the founders who then build a company. We‘re really happy that everything worked out so well and that we are invested in Luke Ferris‘ startup OriginAI alongside EWOR, ROI VENTURES and many other great investors. One of my passion projects is to learn from Venture Capitalist and other types of Investors to find my version of founder-centric investor. Two fun observations: 1. Sweden is too big for a small country. Meaning that Founders focus on Sweden first. Instead of, for example, Estonian companies who go global directly. 2. Swedish Venture Capitalists take "safer" bets. Early stage - companies are missed out on because they do not show the "right" traction. Later stage - companies are unable to scale abroad fast enough. Of course this is a #GrumpyUnclesTALKS perspective :)

Getting investors to travel is hard. When it comes to Demo Day, regional UK and European accelerators based outside the principal pools of venture capital (London, Berlin, Paris....) are at a disadvantage. So, accelerators: here's a radical solution: Take your cohort showcase to where the money is! Bring your cohort to London, and we do the rest with a fully managed Demo Day program. Pitchflix is the company that brings you rev, the VC reverse pitch series for pre-seed to series A founders; warp, the accelerator reverse pitch series for the earliest-stage founders; and now DDHQ so that at the end of the accelerator program, the cohort has an opportunity to engage with genuine investors.

Corporates need to increase the speed and efficiency of innovation to survive in a fast changing environment. Working with start-ups is one of the most effective ways, and venture clients units the approach to make it happen. #27pilots, a #Deloitte business is the pioneer in venture clienting, having set-up successful. Entire client units and many corporates. So I can only recommend to listen-in to Gregor Gimmy, as he talks about the model and his first hand experiences.
