When I was 17, I landed an internship at the VA Hospital. My supervisor was a petite Black elderly woman standing at about 5 feet with a hunchback and a slightly askew wig. I’ll never, ever forget her. On the first day, she whisked me away from my desk to the hospital's basement to give me a tour, introducing me to everyone we met along the way. "These are the maintenance people; if there's an issue with heating, this is where you go," she explained. She meticulously outlined how everything worked, from the intricacies of the facility's mechanics to the difference between LPNs (licensed practical nurses) and RNs (registered nurses). We went up to the executive suites, the various wings like the mental health, orthopedic, surgical, all. She whispered where I should “tread lightly.” She gave me the full scoop on how the organization really worked. I didn’t know it then, but I was aware of a system and the many processes that made up the chain of service. I could pitch in almost anywhere because I understood both the big picture and the various pieces that made it up. She helped me succeed; within 3 months of starting,  I got a promotion! I am still grateful for Ms. Marion T. Noble. That's what an internship should be -- not just making copies, filing, or picking up coffee. Where is the opportunity for growth, for falling in love with how things work? There are so many great internship opportunities available. If I had to go back to my time as an undergraduate student, I wish I would have utilized my resources more! I wish I would have asked more questions and pushed myself to seek out more internships opportunities. For me, I worked 3 jobs while in school and didn’t see how an internship would help my “now”. But as someone that is almost 7 years removed from undergrad, those internship skills would have been super helpful when seeking post-undergrad work and would have been useful in pay negotiations. #internshipopportunity #apply #pushforward

As I complete my enriching 6-month internship journey at ancillarie, I find myself reflecting on the invaluable lessons and experiences gained during this time. 🎯 Focused Learning over speed!: Throughout my internship, I realized that more than being a fast learner, it's crucial to be a focused learner with a keen eye for detail. In clinical data management, precision is really important and overlooking even the smallest detail can have significant consequences. 💼 Emphasizing Teamwork and Coordination: Collaboration and teamwork were fundamental aspects of my internship experience. I learned the importance of effective communication, collaboration and coordination within a team. Working closely with colleagues from various backgrounds and expertise levels enhanced my understanding of the intricate processes involved in clinical data management. 🕰️ Effective Time Management: Managing time effectively was another key takeaway from my internship. Understanding which areas required immediate attention and which could be addressed later helped me optimize productivity and ensure timely completion of tasks. 📈Continuous Upskilling and Adaptability: One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my internship was the importance of continuous upskilling and adaptability. In a rapidly evolving field like clinical data management, staying updated with the latest tools, techniques and industry trends is essential. Whether it is mastering new software applications or staying abreast of regulatory changes, I believe each and every fresher need to follow the path and grow as an individual to contribute to the growth of the company and themselves. In conclusion, my internship at ancillarie provided me with a solid foundation in clinical data management while equipping me with essential skills, insights, and experiences that will undoubtedly shape my future career trajectory. I am grateful for the guidance, support, and opportunities awarded to me during this transformative journey, and I look forward to applying the knowledge and lessons learned to contribute meaningfully to the field of healthcare and clinical research.🔬 #ClinicalDataManagement #Internship #ClinicalResearch

How would you rate your overall satisfaction with the Internship program at Cure Day Hospital?  "The Internship had its challenges regarding the time we were supposed to submit all our work and still having full time commitments on top of that as well, but overall, it was a good experience." How effective was the Internship in helping you develop the skills and knowledge needed in your role? "The internship gave me an idea of how to interact and cope within a working environment as well as what is required from everyone to achieve the company's goal as a whole." If you could spread the word about your internship and transitioning into a permanent role, how would you share your experience? "The internship showed me the way of the world and that not everything will be given to you but with persistence and positivity anything can be accomplished."
