9 months ago, we had just a vision and no resources in place even to get this started….. Post merger, we knew we had to bring two B2B sites into one and we knew we’d need to rewrite our content to reflect a new brand when it came. But our vision was to rapidly build the foundations for the most trusted B2B telco web site in the world. And today we delivered on that vision and we launched our foundational Business web site. And we did it on time and budget, whilst dodging landmines daily. With this phase 1 launch comes a radically better customer navigation, single product pages, embryonic personalisation, SEO friendly re-writes and the further rollout of a single design system. Perhaps 9 months doesn’t seem that impressive? Consider this… 1. The job of architecting navigation for a multi product, global B2B site is fraught with complexity: multiple different customer types * many stages of consideration and buyer types. 2. As in any large corp merger, the team has had to wade through multiple CMSs, design languages and navigation instances and make it all hang together as one. 3. To deliver on our vision, the team built a collage of expertise developed through collaboration with literally hundreds of BT Business product and marketing experts - and they translated their passion and knowledge, page by page, into a large estate of digital content that is personal and simple. Do we still have a long journey left to bring the story of our market leading products and brand to life for our Business customers? We most certainly do… But for today, I could not be prouder of my team and in particular the giant in digital delivery that is Scott Kiehl. Scott is relentless and literally unparalleled at making a programme of this complexity come to life. For an average leader this would have been 2 years, easy … and with many compromises in quality that Scott just doesn’t tolerate. Thank you also to my visioning partner Marco Huerta, and to our amazing eng, design, seo and content leads, to the awesome cms, cross product and design system squads and to the hundreds of people across BT business and digital who supported us.
