To perform a SELF JOIN, you must always use different aliases for table references. Otherwise, SQL will not know how to distinguish the two instances of the table. From our new educational video on SQL scripting, you can learn how to use this join properly: https://hubs.li/Q02lVBD10

We covered OverTheWire Natas Level 16 CTF where we went over a blind SQL injection scenario that uses command substitution to bypass character filters. The character filters used preg_match function in PHP to create a blacklist of characters commonly used in SQL Injection. Video https://lnkd.in/ddre3ynJ Writeup https://lnkd.in/dmmCpKdn

Note to self re: hard-coded values in SQL scripts **Maintainability**: Hard-coded values make scripts difficult to update and maintain. Having to change a value in multiple places increases the risk of errors. 🛠 **Reusability**: Scripts with hard-coded values are often single-use or can seem so to someone unfamiliar with them. Parameterized scripts can be reused across different projects and contexts, saving time and effort. ♻ **Clarity**: Code is easier to understand when it's free of hard-coded values. It’s clear what can be modified, making collaboration and debugging smoother. 🔍 #SQL #BestPractices

A note to self What is the difference between using LIKE and equals? Equals, or =, is a comparison operator that operates on numbers and strings. When comparing strings, the comparison operator compares whole strings. LIKE is a string operator that compares character by character. Credit : codequickly.org #beginner #sql
