The Post of Pride and Gratefulness 🏳️🌈 Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Amsterdam for a business trip with Just Eat Takeaway. As always, it was amazing—being close together notably improved our rapport, learning together, and conducting meetings all from one room. This enhanced understanding and relationship-building on a deeper level. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity. Today, I want to share a story that's a bit unusual for my line of posts but one I believe is incredibly important. I was born in the Soviet Union and raised with certain beliefs, and I must admit, it took me some time to transform, becoming more liberal and open to other genders, sexual orientations, and minorities. During this trip, I attended a two-day course led by an experienced trainer who began with his personal story. He shared, "I'm American, and I came here on a two-year contract, then I met one amazing guy, and the rest is history. I’ve lived in Amsterdam for 16 years now." ☺️ It’s uncomfortable to admit, but the Darya of 5-10 years ago, freshly arrived from Belarus, might have raised a brow. However, the Darya of today was simply happy for him—happy to see someone so content in his marriage and happy with myself for the personal growth I've experienced. I felt immensely grateful to live in Israel 🇮🇱, a country that is open, liberal, and democratic. I hope it remains so forever 🤞. I’m also proud to work for a company like Just Eat Takeaway.com that respects and encourages diversity and inclusivity 🧡. We have many different people in our company and on my team, and we truly believe that this diversity brings us different perspectives from around the world, making us stronger. As we conclude this Pride Month, I am finishing with a heart full of gratitude 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️. How has the approach to diversity and inclusion changed in your workplace over the years? Love this Darya Afonina . We aren't even getting started on the amazing stuff we learnt about 'Crucial conversations'
I feel the same and very excited to live in liberal society 👏
Let me know the next time you're in Amsterdam! It would be great to meet up again since we last saw each other when we were kids at school, haha :)
