Parents who suspect that their child has a muscle disorder can face challenges in getting an accurate and timely diagnosis due to a variety of reasons, including a general lack of awareness about various forms of muscular dystrophy. A recent Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy report based on a large patient registry found that on average, people living with Becker muscular dystrophy had symptoms nearly 3 years before receiving that diagnosis.
