Last month, I had the privilege to attend the 2023 Formula Student UK competition at Silverstone with Team Bath Racing Electric. As a member of the AI team, I was entrenched in the intricate weave of challenges and innovations in introducing autonomy to racing and its wider implication in global transportation. Our team faced some setbacks, particularly in submitting our software, but we pivoted, showcasing our mettle in the static events. Alongside Victor Idongesit, I presented the Real-World AI presentation to an array of judges across the automotive & engineering industry. Our objective was not just to understand but to dissect the multifaceted challenges that autonomous vehicles face in present-day and future road networks. Our analysis spanned diverse topics, from the dynamics of other road users and the unpredictability of weather to the intricate dance of V2V and V2I technology. Furthermore, we ventured into the broader philosophical, socio-economic, and ethical dimensions of a Level-3 and Level-4 driverless world. Sebastian Hall's guidance was pivotal during our preparation, and for that, I'm truly grateful. Simply wow to TUM. Last year I had an opportunity to work in a Machine Learning regression project with F1 racing data to predict the race results. My part was to analyze the tire (wheel) data and therefore, to analyze how a simple tire design and race track makes a huge impact into the race results. My personal impression of the #IAA open space was that some OEMs balance #affordability and #desireability much better than others. ✅ #BMW the Neue Klasse appears to be highly innovative and sporty making it a #desireable car. Whilst #Mercedes completely bets on #luxury, BMW’s Neue Klasse still has the potential to be the base for #affordable vehicles for a broader audience. #Audi seems to further fall behind #BMW with only a very limited and partially overpriced range of BEVs ✅ #cupra shows BEVs with great design leveraging #VWgroup technologies. If #affordability is ensured, #cupra will be one of VWgroup’s most promising attempts to regain momentum ✅ #BYD Seal gets a lot of customer attention, follows a design language similar to #Tesla and sets the stage for competition on #affordability opposite of #Volkswagen #Renault It was great to see so many people and families strolling over #IAA open space.
