These 3 things are just essential… Just like getting a yacht ready to dock is paramount to the success of the operation, getting your CV ready for submission is essential to getting your foot in the door. Here are the top 3 things your CV should include: • Yachting documents and certificates: You will be required to hold certain certificates and trainings, such as ENG1 medical exam, STCW certificate, and Ships Cook certificate. Make sure to mention these on your CV! • Food portfolio: In today's digital age, it's more important than ever to have a food portfolio to showcase your work. Include photos of your dishes, along with tasting notes and descriptions. • Be clear: Be clear and concise in your CV. State your qualifications and experience clearly, and make sure to include your contact information so that potential employers can reach you easily. I've seen so many chefs make the mistake of not including these essential elements on their CV. Don't make the same mistake! Make sure your CV is polished and professional, and you'll be well on your way to landing your dream job as a yacht chef. Is your Chef experience enough to land a job in Europe? To get a visa, you need to get the minimum "threshold salary" For each country, it's a different rule: Ireland 🇮🇪 - €38,000 France 🇫🇷 - €53,836 The UK 🇬🇧 - £26,200 Germany 🇩🇪 - €41,041.80 Norway 🇳🇴 - DKK 487,000 The question is if you can get this salary with your CURRENT experience. To score the above salaries, you'd need to have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience. Senior chef de partie/Pastry chef/Baker/Sous chef/Head chef. Also, the second thing is where your experience comes from: If it's from a 4-5-star hotel, apply with them. If it's from a restaurant, aim for restaurants. Try to find employers where your experience is predominant/relevant.

What key skills have you developed in your time as a chef de partie? ✏️ I've learned as a CDP that my job is to make sure that everyone on my line is executing at a high level and that they are learning to perfect their craft. I also learned that there are many challenges when trying to get people to respond to instructions earnestly. And that poise and composure are your greatest tools when in high pressure situations.
