EV Charging… please keep the experience simple! Travelling to Kent from Gloucestershire last week; then on holiday in Devon this week and I’ve had two totally contrasting user experiences to get a charge. ❌ Download an app. Register a bucketload of personal data. Preload your details. Get your e-card and add to Apple wallet…. Fight a dragon, hop on one foot eight times, sing Mary Poppins backwards… THEN we’ll let you charge. ✅ Pull up. Tap credit card. Charge. Leave 🤌 We don’t have to use an app to buy petrol so why for an EV? It’s a commodity and a need based transactional purchase. I’ll certainly be more likely to use company 2 next time. To those providing and growing these networks I applaud you 👏👏👏BUT please keep the customer experience as simple as it needs to be. Anything else is an exercise in building unnecessary barriers that will slow uptake and growth.
