Gratitude is an excellent habit to get into in 2024. You donโt need to be grateful for large things. No need to dig deep into your imagination. This morning on my bike ride I saw a tossed banana peel and I thought how grateful I was for bananas. Yes, bananas! What a privilege it is to live in a world where we have easy access to bananas, any ripeness at a stable price. You can buy a bunch for like 2 dollars. Creamy, pleasant taste. An excellent addition to my breakfast. A perfect emulsifier for a smoothie. A fruit that grows in far away tropical places, grown and picked by people whose lives I canโt even begin to comprehend. A fruit whose abundant availability and cheap pricing could only happen due to the current robust supply chain system. Can you even think of the amount of work, labour, time, cost, logistics it takes to bring one beautiful yellow banana into my home? You may not feel my gratitude vibes for bananas, but thatโs okay. Think about what makes you feel warm and fuzzy and do it in the mornings. Itโs the perfect way to tune yourself for the rest of the day. So many wonderful things happen in the world without any of my direct involvement.
